What's On Tonight (Wednesday): Everybody deserves Cake

Cake, "Self-Care" (via Giphy)
Good day and happy spooks to you! The top pick goes to one of television's most experimental, and often uneven, offerings currently on the air: FXX's short film showcase Cake. It's a large mishmash of shorts. The live action offerings include the always entertaining Quarter Life Poetry and the offbeat Oh Jerome, No! The animation shorts vary between 30 seconds and a couple minutes, some are solid and others are waaaay out there. I like it. Elsewhere, it's almost Halloween, so prep yourselves for some spooky offerings. (Whistler is almost done with her spooky offerings, too!) For those shows that aren't so spooky, I took some liberties in spookifying their summaries. A&E has a night of ghosts while PBS has the opposite. Will there be a game 7 of the World Series? Both possibilities are listed at the moment. Yes. Will other networks preempt programs? TBD. For you night owls, the sketch Baronesses from Canada are back. Check it! I'm a scary black cat, here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, October 30!

💻 STREAMING

Castle Rock (Hulu, 3 a.m.): "Nadia learns a dark truth about her past."

Flavorful Origins (Netflix, 3 a.m.): PREMIERE. A new batch of episodes for this culinary show about the culinary secrets of China, with a focus this time on yunnan cuisine.

A Heist with Markiplier (YouTube, 3 a.m.): YouTube's attempt at an interactive program, a heist action special starring gaming personality Markiplier.

What's On Tonight (Monday): The Deuce Bids Adieu With Its Series Finale On HBO

Hello All--Here's What's On The Telly Tonight October 28th 2019

The Neighborhood (CBS): Dave and Tina discover that they both share a mutual love of REO Speedwagon when Dave is asked to take Cedric's ticket to the concert that they have tickets to; Gemma seeks the Butlers' help when an unwelcome visitor takes up residence in her home. What's On Tonight (Sunday): Does the Godfather of Harlem make offers you can refuse?

Godfather of Harlem (via Giphy)
Happy holidays! Yeah, there are more of those movies tonight. But first we take a trip to 1960s Harlem. Godfather of Harlem follows the release of mob boss Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker) from prison and his fight to retake Harlem, which has fallen on hard times and is controlled by The Chin (Vincent D'Onofrio), an Italian. Bumpy has family problems and tries to forge alliances with Malcolm X and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. The series acts as a prequel to American Gangster. Elsewhere, HBO rolls out a new coming-of-age show and Silicon Valley is back for its last hurrah (finally). All this plus the slew of other Sunday programs. Never jump into a pile of leaves with a wet sucker, here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, October 27!

EARLY PRIMETIME

60 Minutes (CBS, 7:30 p.m.): Tonight's stories are about: Joe & Jill Biden, the effects of strict regulations and the black market on the legal marijuana business in California, and efforts to revive the giant panda population.

A Christmas Movie Christmas 🎥🎄 (UPtv, 7 p.m.): Christmas movie fanatic Eve (!) makes a wish to Santa of having a movie-perfect Christmas with a movie-perfect boyfriend. Then she and her cynical sister Lacy wake up in Christmas Town, trapped inside a Christmas movie starring them. Then things go bad, but not horror movie bad. Just Hallmark-esque movie bad.

Doctor Who 📺 (Retro TV, 7 p.m.): In the essential classic "The Caves of Androzani," a war is waged between a businessman (John Normington) and an android builder (Christopher Gable) for control of the life-prolonging substance spectrox on the planet Androzani Minor. This was the final adventure of the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison). In the end, he will regenerate with Peri by his side.✔️

It's a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown 📺🎃 (ABC, 7 p.m.): If you missed it last week, you can check out this classic 1966 special with the bonus You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown.

Law & Order 📺 (WE, 6 p.m.): In this season one classic, Greevey and Logan's investigation of the shooting of two innocent children leads to a 14-year-old gunman and the people who hired him. You can also see S. Epatha Merkerson as a character that isn't Anita Van Buren.

Star Wars Resistance (Disney XD, 6 p.m.): The pirates volunteer to find food for the Colossus, but Kaz doesn't trust them. Kaz and Torra go on the hunt, but run into big problems.

SNL Live Thread 10/26/19: Chance The Rapper Is Both The Host & The Musical Guest

Chance the Rapper has previously been the musical guest once before in 2016, and hosted the show once before in 2017, tho curiously he was not the musical guest the one time he had hosted..which I'm sure confused many at the time. So this is his third appearance on the show altogether--his second time hosting the show proper, and his second time as the musical guest as well. So that's not confusing at all. (Let's just say he's 2 and 2--but this is his first time being both at the same time!)

The SNL Vintage that is set to air tonight is basically a compendium of Halloween sketches so you can bet there will be plenty of David S. Pumpkins who's clearly been this decade's breakout Halloween sketch. (Any Questions??? Yes...Several!!!) I personally kinda like that one that had Jim Carey as a ghost alongisde the ghost of his own brother haunting a cemetery who kept singing their names over and over and over again--it was really silly. (Looking it up it aired the Saturday night before whatever day Halloween occurred in 2014 and the ghosts were named Paul and Phil....in fact here is the sketch itself.)

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfB3gFrbthM

Well that's all i really have to say for right now, hopefully the show will be good, or at the very least watchable...If i remember right Chance actually made a pretty good host last time around, although i don't quite remember anything he actually did on the show itself (although its all pretty much on youtube on a sketch by sketch basis) i vaguely remember thinking it to be an adequate enough episode???? (thinks about this) I honestly don't know...i barely remember what happened on any of the shows last season and i watched the majority of them here alongside you guys as they aired!!!

Anyways i hope you guys are good, and obviously I also hope that i'm here to watch it with y'all. (I have to go to Brooklyn to pick up a small and skinny bookshelf that someone i know is getting rid of--its not the travel i mind, so much as the having to carry it back with me on the train--its always tough to have to maneuver furniture with you on the subway no matter how small it may be)

What's On Tonight (Saturday): Crikey! Have a look at these Irwins

Crikey! It's the Irwins (via Giphy)
Merry Christmas! Tis the season... but before that, we head down under. The top pick is Animal Planet's Crikey! It's the Irwins, a mostly harmless and often delightfully charming wildlife show about Terri, Bindi, Robert, and the rest of the crew at the Australia Zoo as they manage the wildlife. Bindi's husband-to-be Chandler Powell is also a more prominent face this season. If you want even more light-hearted TV, Christmas has arrived. Both Lifetime and Hallmark begin their annual barrage of romantic Christmas movies though it's not even Halloween yet! Don't fret. Travel Channel (and us) hasn't forgotten, and expect some lol-y spooks from SNL, too. You could also enjoy some baseball and hope the home team kicks some touchdowns. Oh, and JoJo's back! So give a girl a break, Jimmy, here's what's on television for tonight, Saturday, October 26!

EARLY PRIMETIME

Columbo 📺 (Cozi TV, 7 p.m.): Sigma Society member Theodore Bikel murders his business partner, who threatened to expose him as an embezzler, and constructs a seemingly foolproof alibi. Later, mystery writer Ruth Gordon suspects her niece's husband of murdering her, so she exacts revenge by asphyxiating him in her house safe.

Doctor Who 📺 (Retro TV, 6 p.m.): "The Mutants" ends and "Time Monster" begins, where the Master (Roger Delgado) seeks the power of Kronos, a being that exists outside of time and space, so that he can control the universe.✔️

Box Office Flashback October 25, 2019
