What's On Tonight (Monday): The Deuce Bids Adieu With Its Series Finale On HBO

Hello All--Here's What's On The Telly Tonight October 28th 2019

8:00

The Neighborhood (CBS): Dave and Tina discover that they both share a mutual love of REO Speedwagon when Dave is asked to take Cedric's ticket to the concert that they have tickets to; Gemma seeks the Butlers' help when an unwelcome visitor takes up residence in her home. (The presence of REO Speedwagon really and truly does make this sound like a sitcom that should've aired in the 80s which i've been seeing this feels like since pretty early in its run--tho i meant that in a good way to be fair)

The Voice (NBC): The Battles Night 5/The Knock-Outs Premiere; Taylor Swift guest mentors the vocal coaches. (Guest mentors???)

9-1-1 (FOX): Athena and the 118 respond to bizarre emergency calls on Halloween including a flock of crows terrorizing a field trip; an office employee having a close encounter with an 8 limb creature; and a ghost like girl wandering around a neighborhood scaring people. (A Halloween themed episode of  9-1-1??? Well they did do a heist themed episode last season that was unexpectedly good...)

Dancing With The Stars (ABC): Halloween theme night finds the various couples performing a "spooky" opening number and an additional round of Halloween themed dances. (Ain't nothing scarier than a Halloween themed dance competition--I guess???)

All American (The CW): When Spencer tries to talk to Layla about what is going on, things don't work out as he had hoped; a high school reunion brings up a lot of memories and unfinished business for attendees; Asher turns to Olivia when someone from his past wants to see him.  (Wait, aren't the characters in high school??? So who's going to a high school reunion then here exactly???)

Antiques Roadshow (PBS): A rerun from 2017 finds the show visiting Virginia Beach where they examine a 1554 Giorgio Ghisi engraving after Bronzino; a Louis Vuitton steamer trunk circa 1890; and a 1962 mercury capsule antenna. (nods)

Monday Night Football (ESPN): Miami Dolphins Vs. Pittsburgh Steelers.  (I had a roommate in college who refused to move at all anytime there was a Steelers game being broadcast)

8:30

Bob Hearts Abishola (CBS): The title pair finally go out on a proper date together which is then interrupted by Dottie's medical emergency. (Christine Ebersole i believe is Dottie for the record)

9:00

All Rise (CBS): This just picked up for the season series (Does this mean i now have to force myself to watch it??? Its a real existential crisis I now face here) finds "Lola contending with a fame hungry defendant, personal assistant Olivia McLeland, and a circus like courtroom while presiding over a celebrity's murder trial that forces her to find peace of mind at Sherri's home after being chased by the paparazzi."  (CBS? CBS? CBS?)

Prodigal Son (FOX): When Bright uncovers a photo of himself and Martin from when he was a kid, he is forced to focus on the repressed memories from his childhood (this seems to happen at least once an episode here at this rate); Jessica and Malcolm agree that they must put a stop to Ainsley's idea. (So the synopsis of this week's episode is just gonna gloss over the gruesome murder of the week that needs to be solved here????)

Black Lightning (The CW): Jefferson faces new challenges due to the shocking state of Freeland post martial law; Lynn finds herself under intense pressure as she desperately tries to find a solution to the continuing crisis in Freeland; Anissa continues her work at the clinic. (So to sum up, everyone on the show is continuing something! Hashtag The Struggle Is Real!)

Retro Report PBS (PBS): Immigration; lawsuit over hot coffee; origin of special ops forces; measuring the risks after Challenger disaster; Andy Borowitz on Anita Bryant. (I still wish this was the Retro News Now Report instead)

The Deuce (HBO): Big changes come to The Deuce in this series finale of this HBO show that ran for three seasons; Gene sees opportunity in the city's public health crisis; Vincent looks to get out from under the mob's thumb and make peace with Abby; and Candy makes a critical choice in her relationship with Hank. (I hate to say it but i've never seen the show even tho i've heard a lot of good things about it--mostly from you guys actually!)

American Pickers (History): An old walnut farm in California has barns that haven't seen the light of day in years and just might contain the Holy Grail of vintage workwear. (Leather construction pants I'm gonna guess, I honestly don't know what would constitute vintage workwear)

Lost Cities with Albert Lin (Nat Geo): Traveling to Columbia to find out the truth about the legendary city of El Dorado.

9:30

Green Acres (MeTV): Henry turns the Douglas farm into an inn while Oliver and Lisa are still in D.C. (It couldn't be any worse than Dwight's beet farm bed and breakfast on The Office right?)

10:00

Bull (CBS): A woman who has a reputation for aggressive behavior is on trial for her husband's murder but she claims to have no memory of it due to an alcoholic blackout. Can Bull find out what really happened that night??? (Have you ever seen a courtroom procedural before???)

Bluff City Law (NBC): Sydney and Elijah try two separate cases for ex college football star Marcus Wright who is dying; Della is presented with a lifetime achievement award from the LGBTQ community. (That's nice that they have an LGBTQ community even in Bluff City!)

The Good Doctor (ABC): This is surprisingly a rerun of the season premiere. I guess ABC didn't wanna put up a new episode thinking that they were gonna be against The World Series here??? (shrugs) I was surprised to find out it was a rerun myself as i even jotted down the details of the episode and then was like--"hey wait, I've seen this!!!!"

Independent Lens (PBS): Season 21 Premiere finds this documentary series airing "Made In Boise" which is about "4 surrogates and the parents to be navigating pregnancy and the mixed emotions of their families who worry about the potential physical and emotional complications of carrying babies for someone else." (PBS!!!!)

Catherine The Great (HBO): A victorious Potemkin returns from war to find Catherine preoccupied leading the two to speak candidly about their pasts and future while a Cossack stirs discontent among peasants in the countryside. (nods) (How is this not airing on PBS Masterpiece Theater???)

Pawn Stars (History): All ears ring when a rare keepsake from Seinfeld sends John O'Hurley into the shop (J PETERMAN!!!); Rick travels east after a new ride where he must then choose between a rare 60's muscle car and a rare 20's rum running boat. (Oh Decisions, Decisions)

The Ultimate Survival WW2 (Nat Geo): This new reality docudrama series premieres tonight and seems to be about telling stories of incredible true survival that occurred during WW2. Tonight they trace the journey of 11 U.S. Soldiers who fled a POW camp in The Philippines.

HUH THAT"S ALL I GOT HERE---I COULD SWEAR I THOUGHT I WROTE DOWN HOGAN'S HEROES BUT I GUESS I DIDN'T. HAVE A GOOD MONDAY GANG!
