Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Oct. 24

Today's contestants are:

- Mushtaq, a lawyer from New York, was Indiana Jones at Disneyland;
- Jaime, a test prep instructor from New York, has scripted debates moderated by God (Ed Asner); and
- Allyson, a communications director from Florida, was rescued from 2-foot-high water by a brave Canadian. Allyson is a one-day champ with winnings of $9,500.

Mushtaq found all three DDs, taking first place on DD3 and holding it into FJ with $21,700 vs. $17,200 for Jamie and $12,200 for Allyson.

DD1, $600 - VEHICULAR ACTIVITY - Nautical idiom meaning to complain when people wish you'd keep quiet & not make waves (Mushtaq added $2,000 to his leading total of $2,400.)

DD2, $1,600 - SHAKE HANDS WITH SHAKESPEARE - "Take me by the hand, and say, 'Harry of England, I am thine'", is how this king proposes to Katherine (Mushtaq lost just $100 from his leading score of $9,400.)

DD3, $800 - WHERE DO YOU STAN? - Kazakhstan has 1,200 miles of coastline along this large inland body of water (Mushtaq won $6,000 to his total of $11,300 to take the lead from Jamie, who had $14,000.)

FJ - THE HISTORY OF FRANCE - This modern regime that lasted 4 years changed the national motto to "Travail, famille, patrie" -- "Work, family, fatherland"

For the third time this week and the fourth time in the last five shows, all three players were stumped by FJ.

Allyson would have won the game from third position with a bet of $2,200 or less, but she went for $4,800 instead. This allowed Jamie to take the victory, dropping $7,201 to win with $9,999.

Clue selection strategy: Mushtaq made an interesting move after Jamie opened DJ by going to the $2,000 clue in Shakespeare. Mushtaq must have decided that Jamie loved the category, so he chose the $1,600 clue, found DD2 and only bet $100. So even though he didn't like the category, he shopped for the DD there specifically to prevent Jamie from getting it and possibly doubling up.

Triple Stumpers of the day: No one knew what "rises above" the Champ de Mars in Paris is the Eiffel Tower, or the "entertaining athlete" known as a luchador is a wrestler.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is "not (don't) rock the boat"?
DD2 - Who was Henry V?
DD3 - What is the Caspian Sea?
FJ - What is Vichy France?
