Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Jun. 13

 Here are today's contestants:

- Mike Flanagan, a non-profit executive from Winchester, Massachusetts;

- Hakme Lee, a scientific instructional technician from Seattle, Washington; and

- Adriana Harmeyer, an archivist from West Lafayette, Indiana. Adriana is an eleven-day champ with winnings of $258,700.

Jeopardy!

SAINTLY U.S. CITIES // FROM A TO Z // VIVA LAS VEGAS RESIDENCIES  // 19th CENTURY NEWSPAPERS // RECITING POETRY // RHYME TIME

DD1 - $400 - SAINTLY U.S. CITIES - A famous battle occurred in this city from February 23 to March 3, 1836 (Hakme lost $1,000.)

Scores at first break: Adriana $1,000, Hakme $800, Mike -$400.

Scores entering DJ: Adriana $2,800, Hakme $2,000, Mike $400.

Double Jeopardy!

SECRETARIES OF DEFENSE // COMPETITORS // PULITZER PRIZE-WINNING BIOGRAPHIES // SCIENCE FOR "U" // FEATURE FILM DEBUTS // FOREIGN WORDS & PHRASES

DD2 - $1,200 - PULITZER PRIZE-WINNING BIOGRAPHIES - Also a CCR song, the title of this memoir by Vietnam vet Lewis Puller Jr. refers to having a legendary general as a dad (Mike dropped $2,000 from his score of $4,800 vs. $9,200 for Adriana.)

DD3 - $800 - COMPETITORS - To fend off competition from Arkansas, in 1931 this state lowered its residency requirement for divorce to 6 weeks (Adriana added $3,000 to her total of $10,400 vs. $6,400 for Hakme.)

Adriana led at every break and scored late on DD3 in the second row, but another modest wager on her part helped keep the game alive into FJ with Adriana at $15,800 vs. $9,200 for Hakme and $4,400 for Mike.

Final Jeopardy!

1960s BRITISH NOVELS - The author of this novel said of the last chapter left off U.S. editions, "my young thuggish protagonist grows up"

Adriana and Mike were correct on FJ, with Adriana adding $4,000 to win with $19,800 for a 12-day total of $278,500.

Final scores: Adriana $19,800, Hakme $6,200, Mike $5,126.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one could identify Defense Secretary under George W. Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, who might call this Triple Stumper a "known unknown".

Judging the producers: Not sure what the point is of FJ mentioning "the last chapter left off U.S. editions" if they weren't going to have the host explain at the end why it was left off.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is San Antonio? DD2 - What is "Fortunate Son"? DD3 - What is Nevada? FJ - What is "A Clockwork Orange?"
