Monkey Man

A few arrivals today have piqued my interest, but I'm going with the streaming premiere of Monkey Man on Peacock because I got a really good GIF from the trailer.  That's right Hollywood, you want Top Pick here at the ol' WOT, you need to put out trailers that are easier for me to make GIFs from.  Otherwise, I will have no choice but to relegate your film/show to the "Elsewhere..." section.  Maybe I won't even mention it there.  I'm just that petty.

*Personally, I see nothing wrong with being sent to the "Elsewhere..." section.  Not everyone can be Top Pick!  Many get Top Pick who do not deserve it, and many who are worthy never reach those heights.  It's a shit hand but you play the cards your dealt.  Now go listen to some Kenny Rogers and learn TRUTH.

*I came very close to making the new Apple series, Camp Snoopy, today's Top Pick.  I got a nice GIF from the trailer and everything!  In addition to that, the trailer was charming and something I would definitely have watched with my kids when they were younger before they got bored and forced me to sit through Polar Express for the umpteenth time (you better believe I have some hot takes).

*Ultraman Rising makes its debut today on Netflix.  I've commented before on how Netflix makes/acquires surprisingly good animated films.  They don't always knock it out of the park, but they have far more successes than you would think.  This one is sitting at 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, so it might be more for fanboys and their kids, but the animation is impressive.  Unfortunately, it's also almost two hours long.  Even Polar Express was only 100 minutes.  In this way only do I wish more films were like Polar Express.
