What's On Tonight (Sunday): Even more vampires

Let the Right One In

Children of the night! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, October 30!

Our Top Pick tonight is one title in the new crop of vampire shows, Let the Right One In (Showtime, 10 p.m.). This TV adaptation of the highly-praised Swedish book, moves the action to New York City, and many character ambitions. There is a search for a vampire cure, a murder mystery that might be vampires, and many doses of family drama. It's an acceptable adaptation with good casting (DemiΓ‘n Bichir, Madison Taylor Baez, Grace Gummer) but it takes a little time for wheels to get moving and show some reveals.

Elsewhere, Vampires Louis and Claudia have doubts, it's Halloween in Animation Domination land, The Serpent Queen will kidnap the king, The White Lotus travels to a new resort, an escapee is loose in East New YorkAnnika goes the theatre, and maybe tonight Stanley Tucci finds Italy.

πŸ“Ί Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego? (Tubi, now): Did you forget that Netflix recently remade Carmen Sandiego? I did. It was a nice idea but I found the updated concepts veered too far off the rails. A few years ago, I revisited the original animated series and it holds up. It burns through plots pretty quickly, so even at the end of its brief 40-episode run, it is out of steam. But for education TV, it remains in the upper tiers with teenage ACME agents Ivy and Zack racing across the globe trying to capture master sleuth Carmen Sandiego, though Carmen herself just wants the best for Ivy and Zack. The theme song is awesome, too. Perhaps serving as my introduction to Mozart.
