What's On Tonight (Sunday): On the record with the Vampire

Interview with a Vampire

Dracarys! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, October 2!

Our Top Pick tonight is the television retelling of Anne Rice's gothic classic Interview with the Vampire (AMC+, 3 a.m.). The interviewee is Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) and the interviewer is journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian). Lestat recounts love, blood, and the perils of immortality with companion Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) and fledgling vampire Claudia (Bailey Bass). I like the 1997 movie, but it is rather reserved. As usual for AMC+ shows, there's a 2 episode streaming premiere and 1 episode premiere on AMC, which will remain 1 week behind the streamer.

ElsewhereEast New York gets a new kind of cop, a Canadian Family is all about the Law, Lucy Worsley hunts historical witches, The Walking Dead are back again, Blumhouse extracts a history of horror, Hunter King and her twin are Sleuths, America still has funny Home Videos, and Nothing Compares to Showtime's latest doc.

Cancellation League (3 p.m.-ish): So Help Me Todd certainly needed help and no one goes to Flatch. Let's get them points!

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

⭐ Interview with the Vampire (AMC+, 3 a.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. In the year 2022, the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac lives in Dubai and seeks to tell the story of his life (err, afterlife) to renowned journalist Daniel Molloy. Beginning in early 20th-century New Orleans, Louis' story follows his relationship with the vampire Lestat du Lioncourt and their formed family, including teen fledgling Claudia. (Premiere episode linear: AMC, 10 p.m.) ✔️

πŸ“Ί Supermarket Sweep (FreeVee / Roku Channel, now): While the original is largely lost, later revivals are still around. Several episodes of the 2000s reboot on Pax can be found on FreeVee and I believe there's a SS channel on Roku that includes the '90s Lifetime revival, both of which were hosted by David Ruprecht. I enjoyed both versions as a youth. I also enjoy the current Leslie Jones-hosted revival.

The Walking Dead (AMC+, 3 a.m.): The show is back for the final run of episodes. In the first of two episodes released: "Daryl and Negan rush to the commonwealth to stop Hornsby from going after their families. Pamela deals with protesters demanding justice for Sebastian's crimes. Mercer needs Rosita's help to fight a swarm." (First episode linear: AMC, 9 p.m.) ✔️
