What's On Tonight (Wednesday): Wu-Tang rules everything around me

Wu-Tang: An American Saga

WOT ain't nothin' ta fuck wit! Here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, September 8!

Tonight's Top Pick is the return of Wu-Tang: An American Saga (Hulu, midnight), which is back for its sophomore season. The show isn't an accurate retelling of how the hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan formed, but it takes a lot of real events in its storytelling. The show is executive produced by RZA and Alex Tse and other members (or their estates) have their name on the series. I picture the show as the real story filtered through a writers room.

Elsewhere, a genius teenage doctor is here and still named Doogie, Hooch is accused of a crime, Grandma from Queens is on a mission with her friends, Josie is in Riverdale without the Pussycats, Good Trouble wraps another season, Archer and Lana fight snakes and crocs, Thor gets the What If treatment, and Viceland and 20/20 revisit September 11.

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

Chip 'n' Dale: Park Life (Disney+, 3 a.m.): In an attempt to keep warm, Chip and Dale try to make friends with ducklings. Chip and Dale get involved with the wrong squirrel, which makes this sound like a romance thing. Butch and Pluto compete to be top dog.

πŸ“Ί Darkwing Duck (Disney+, now): This '90s animated superhero comedy series turns 30 years old today. Is it a spinoff of DuckTales? Not in my book.

πŸ“Ί Defenders of the Earth (Tubi, now): This one-season Flash Gordon sci-fi animated series turns 35 years old today. FYI: It takes place in 2015, so its future didn't happen.

Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem (Peacock, 3 a.m.): The third episode of a limited series spinoff of NBC's long-running daytime soap opera.

Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. (Disney+, 3 a.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. Remake! The charming Peyton Elizabeth Lee is Lahela "Doogie" Kamealoha, a teenaged wunderkind juggling her high school life with an early medical career. She is nicknamed Doogie because she is just like Doogie Howser, a show that existed in this remake.✔️

πŸ“Ί Herman's Head (YouTube, now): A few years ago, someone uploaded all 72 episodes of this bizarre but fascinating Fox sitcom about Herman and the personalities that exist in his head. Today, the three-season sitcom turns 30 years old.

Into the Night (Netflix 3 a.m.): SEASON TWO. A new season of the Belgian apocalyptic sci-fi thriller.

πŸŽ₯ JJ+E (Netflix, 3 a.m.): A Swedish love flick.

πŸŽ₯ Men in Black: International (FX, 7:30 p.m.): Love was enough for me to watch this mostly lifeless sequel with Valkyrie and Thor Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth. Those two tried, but this movie was bad.

Nine Perfect Strangers (Hulu, midnight): Pressure on Masha intensifies, as she juggles the competing needs of her guests, discord amongst her staff and her absolute commitment to healing the Marconi family.

🍽️ Occasional Cooks (What's On Tonight & Pop Culture, 7 p.m.): Our lovely Helent is more than just a commenter of cat and animal memes. This week she has cheese on her mind. So check out our weekly food thread, and feel free to talk about food and/or what is going on in your kitchen.

Turner & Hooch (Disney+, 3 a.m.): Scott must prove his dog's innocence when Hooch is accused of damaging a valuable painting.

What If...? (Disney+, 3 a.m.): "Party Thor"?

⭐ Wu-Tang: An American Saga (Hulu, midnight): SEASON PREMIERE. The hip hop drama with an Emmy-nominated theme song is back. The first season ended with the group having formed and getting their music out to the public. I think. Today, three episodes drop.✔️

πŸŽ₯ Inheritance (HBO, 8 p.m.): The patriarch of a wealthy and powerful family suddenly dies, leaving his daughter, Emily who is not in Paris, with a shocking secret inheritance that threatens to unravel and destroy the family. Simon Pegg, Connie Nielsen, and Patrick Warburton are among the other stars.

Riverdale (The CW, 8 p.m.): After going MIA during the middle of her world tour, mega-star Josie McCoy returns to Riverdale unexpectedly. Veronica gets a surprise visit from her old friend Alexandra Cabot, in a Law & Order: Special Victims Unit crossover(?). Toni helps Tabitha and Veronica with a deal.
