I would hope that being indicted on Federal charges (along with three other cops) would complicate Derek Chauvin's attempt at a mistrial. Appeal is still likely but not necessarily likely to succeed. [NBC]
Trump's Justice Department subpoenaed phone records of three Washington Post reporters who had written about the Trump campaign/Russia connection. Barr was AG at the time of the subpoenas which required his approval. [NBC]
Dr. Nancy Messonnier issued the first strong warning from the CDC about COVID early last year. Trump wanted to fire her for that. She held on and has helped shape public health policy. Now she's resigning. She's been at the CDC for 25 years. I think she held on until a sane person would hire her replacement. [NPR]
