Howdy Folks---I love the idea of Evil AND Project Runway sharing top pick because you know--name two more unlikely shows that air on the same night to share the honor! (God Friended Me and Mr. Robot maybe would also work as a good unlikely duo) Anyways Here is What Is On for December 5th 2019
Before I get to broadcast apparently there's some streaming things here---
Netflix has a series starting tonight called V Wars starring Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder. ("A fast acting disease turns victims into blood sucking fiends ends up pitting two best friends against one another" Is there anything that Somerhalder can't play?!?!?!?)
Also Netflix has this Norwegian series called "Home For Christmas" about "Tired of constant comments on her relationship status, Johanne starts a 24 day hunt to bring a boyfriend home for Christmas" (This is a mult part series and not a Lifetime Movie?!?!?!?)
Also also on Netflix is a movie starring Rose McIver and Ben Lamb called "A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby" (Oy i hope McIver got a nice paycheck for this) ("they host royals from a faraway kingdom to renew a peace treaty, but when said treaty disappears, chaos reigns and an ancient curse threatens the royal family") (Do ladders suddenly start smacking them in the faces? Cause i'd watch this if this was like 90 minutes of Rose McIver doing physical comedy!)
Meanwhile over on CBS All Access we have the 2nd season premiere episode of "Tell Me A Story" which i only know about because i saw a handful of ads for it on CBS. (of course I did!)
And Now Without Further Ado I Bring You Broadcast!
8:00
Young Sheldon (CBS): One of the only networks to feature an all new lineup tonight gets underway with Young Bazinga-- "Mary gets Pastor Jeff involved when Sheldon isn't invited to Billy's birthday party (Awww); George Sr. has male bonding time with Dr. Sturgis. (While its nice that Wallace Shawn is still present in the show's universe, i thought the whole point behind his break-up with Annie Potts' character was to give Shawn time to go on and do other things, playwright-y things)
Saturday Night Live Christmas Special (NBC): NBC meanwhile devotes two hours tonight to a compilation of SNL Christmas themed sketches. D---k In A Box, The Hannukah Song, and I would assume Hannukah Harry are all represented. (what do you think is less likely to be included but might show up tho? What about that sketch with Alec Baldwin doing his GlenGary GlenRoss speech to a bunch of elves in Santa's Workshop? That was Christmas themed!)
A Charlie Brown Christmas (ABC): Linus tries to explain the real meaning of Christmas to a certain block-headed child. (This absolutely won't be the last time this is run this month!)
Thursday Night Football (FOX): Dallas Cowboys Vs Chicago Bears (Daaa Bears)
Supernatural (The CW): Dean goes off on his own to help assist on a case (wait assist who if he's on his own???); Castiel has an idea of how he can help Sam track down God. (The episode is called "Last Call") (Also i like that "tracking down God" is a thing that totally makes sense in the world of this show--"Follow the clues!")
Great Performances--Andrea Bocelli at 60 (PBS): Again this might not be broadcast on the PBS affiliate in your area--but this is a rerun from last March anyways.
A Christmas Carol (TNT): This old chestnut is represented here with a 1999 version that stars Capt Picard himself as Scrooge and also features Richard E Grant, Joel Grey, and Ian McNeice. (Wasn't Richard E Grant actually in Scrooged as well??? I believe he was right? He's the douchey exec with terrible taste whom Robert Mitchum forces onto Bill Murray)
Merry Liddle Christmas (Lifetime): "A successful entrepeneur's messy family descends on her new dream home for the holidays." Starring Kelly Rowland, and Thomas Cadrot. (shrugs) (Also Liddle??? Oh come on Lifetime, its bad enough that the President uses it, but you're better than also using this stupidly annoying non-word damnit! I Hold You To A Higher Standard Lifetime Channel!!!)
Christmas Town (Hallmark): "Lauren leaves everything behind in Boston to embark on a new chapter in her new life and career" Starring Candace Cameron Bure, Tim Rozon, and Beth Broderick. (Wait what does this synopsis have to do with Christmas and/or Towns???)
8:30
The Unicorn (CBS): Wade pretends to be dating Caroline to avoid being set up on blind dates by Delia; Ben and Michele throw an anniversary party for themselves but have issues with catering. (If catering is the only issue you're having a good decade plus in your marriage, a marriage that also includes at least one really loud sitcom kid, you're probably doing something right)
9:00
Mom (CBS): Christy and the ladies rally around Tammy when she has trouble adjusting to early release from parole; Bonnie is disappointed when her perfect birthday gift for Adam gets a lukewarm response. (That B story absolutely sounds like an Allison Janney plotline for this show; the first one tho, i thought Tammy's been out on parole for an entire year now--I mean she's even got a job cooking at Adam's bar)
Same Time Next Christmas (ABC): Jumping into the Made For TV Christmas Movie Game For Some Inexplicable Reason---ABC has this Lea Michele starring Christmas set film about "A young woman and her childhood sweetheart reunite at the same Hawaiian resort where they had previously met" Charles Michael Davis (of The Originals, Younger, and Chicago PD, among many other shows) plays the childhood sweetheart and Bryan Greenberg (of One Tree Hill fame I guess) plays her current beau, and Nia Vardalos is also in this, i'm assuming for the paycheck, but maybe she also liked the script--you can never quite tell! BROADCAST TV MOVIES ARE MAKING A COMEBACK!!!! (Ok maybe not)
Legacies (The CW): after deciding that leaving town would be for the best, Hope gets pulled back in after Josie comes up with a risky plan to close the Malivore Portal; Alaric and Dorian make an alarming discovery abut Professor Vardemus (The episode is titled "It Will All Be Painfully Clear Soon Enough") (nods) (Not The Malivore Portal!!!!)
American Pickers Bonus Buys (History): I'm still not sure how Bonus Buys differs from a regular episode--does it feature more content? its not a clip show right? "In a freaky Fla town steeped in colonial history, Mike gambles on the mother lode of circus banners" (Circus Banners?!?!?!?)
Naked and Afraid (Discovery): A group of 3 struggle with the team dynamics, torrential rains and large cats threaten a dup deep in the jungles of Ecuador, a single mother and a special ops veteran backpack thru the Sal Ring River Valley in Thailand. (nods) (Naked And Afraid!!!)
Santa Baking Blizzard (Food): More Christmas Themed Competitive Baking Challenges! (shrugs)
9:30
Carol's Second Act (CBS): As the hospital hosts therapy dogs to help care for their patients, Carol helps Lexie when the emotional burden of being a doctor becomes too rough. (Lexie is one of the other interns on the show, so its nice that Carol is helping a fellow cast member I suppose, tho she's so undefined as a character beyond she's a lesbian, that Carol might as well be helping a vague blurry figure--which I now find very humorous--Carol trying to speak platitudes and sitcom homilies to a literal blurred out figure--Carol then of course goes in for the hug of said blurry figure and audience goes Awwww)
Project Runway (Bravo): Season 18 of this venerable reality contest show kicks off tonight with "Blast Off" "With luggage still in tow, the designers are greeted at the TWA Hotel at JFK ready to take flight with a challenge to create an original look inspired by humanity's continued push into space exploration" I know what Cali's watching tonight at least!!!! (Is there gonna be a live thread as well? She still does those for Project Runway yes?)
Green Acres (MeTV): Oliver is headed for trouble when he receives a modest tax refund. (The episode is titled "The Case of the Hooterville Refund Fraud") (Hmmmm)
10:00
Evil (CBS): David is shocked to learn he is being sued for inflicting severe psychological harm on Caroline Hopkins after he assisted in her exorcism; David questions his future as a priest, especially after developing a connection with his defense attorney. (CBS? CBS? CBS?)
Makin' It (NBC): More artisanal shenanigans with that duo Poehler and Offerman! (Poehler and Offerman--Attorneys At Law!) (I would totally watch a legal show with those two actually now that i'm envisioning them as lawyers) (A man can dream I guess)
Carbonoro Effect (Tru TV): While working on a book store, Michael feeds some bookworms, Michael sees food and gives new meaning to the term "grass fed beef" at a food tasting center; Michael speeds his assistant thru an experiment that teaches about a new shape in "Pink Slime" (I don't know what that means either honestly)
Holzer Files (Travel): Ayers All o a house in Metuchen NJ that may feature entities from colonoiel times. (Thanksgiving was last week Travel Channel!) (Like the spirits know what time of year it is!)
Christmas Perfection (Lifetime): "A woman magically wakes up in her perfect Christmas village in Ireland" with Caitlin Therpism, (I don't think that's her real name but this is me trying to make out my scribble here) and James Henri-Thomas (I love Caitlin Therpism!!!!)
HAVE A GREAT THURSDAY YOU GUYS!!!!
