Politics Corner, December 4th

The Impeachment Hearing today was riveting up until it devolved into Republicans grandstanding because their witness had nothing left to say and they had nothing to say themselves. I almost wished Stefanik would show up because she could at least pretend she had something to say. [NBC]

Also: The truth is calling from inside the Justice Department. [The Hill]

We're not just waiting for Bolton, McGahn, Mulvaney, Pompeo, whoever texts for Trump when his other toilet activities require his attention, etc. to testify. We're also waiting to see whether Democrats widen the Impeachment. They sent signals that they would in today's Impeachment Hearing. [Politico]

If Trump watched something other than Fox he might understand the gravity of his situation. [Politico]

If Melania wants us to believe that she cares about minors being used as pawns in politics (and not just future Divorce Court asset/witness Barron) she should do something about the hundreds of thousands of kids who will starve because her husband wants to punish their parents. [Politico]

Trump: the world is not laughing at US, it is laughing at YOU. [BuzzFeed]

China is not happy with our bill condemning them for persecution of the Uighurs. They're threatening trade. Does Trump have anything left in our pockets to give them? [Reuters]

Of course Trump met with one of his favorite dictators (and he admires so many dictators), Turkey's
Erdoğan, on the side of those other NATO jokesters. Erdoğan waits to laugh at Trump until he's out of the room. [The Hill]

Germany expelled Russian diplomats because they murdered someone. I wish Merkel would explain to Trump: that is how you deal with murderous dictators. [NPR]

Convicted felon Duncan Hines Hunter is still in the House. Future convicted felons like Devin COW Nunes don't seem to mind. [Politico]

The Senate confirmed a judge with no experience outside of an extreme opposition to any form of reproductive rights. Surrogate moms? Against it. Fertility treatment? Against it. Lifetime appointment to the bench? She got it. All Democrats voted against. Only one Republican didn't vote to approve her and Susan Collins will be spending more time with her family soon. [Slate]

Do you like having your picture taken when you are at your most irritable and surrounded by strangers who are all on edge? Boy does Homeland Security got another time-wasting line at the airport for you! [ABC]
