What's On Tonight (Monday): Batwoman Takes Flight To Combat Night Two of CW's "The Crisis On Infinite Earths!"

Hello all---Here be What's On TV for December 9th 2019

8:00

The Neighborhood (CBS): Cedric reluctantly argues to let Marty create a website for his auto shop in hopes of drumming some new business; Meanwhile Dave takes it upon himself to try to prove to his son Grover that there's more to life than technology and gadgets. (Good Luck Dave--I applaud you're motives but you're son's not as square as you are so this might he hard for you to try and pull off!)

The Voice (NBC): Top 8 Performances LIVE! (Not "Live On Tape From Hollywood" LIVE Live!)

Beat Shazam (FOX): This summertime staple (yes its a staple) returns to the line-up tonight for a Christmas themed episode in which "seasonal classic mixed with hit songs as teams of cousins, military DJ's, and a father daughter duo compete" (Military DJ's eyyy??? Now that's something that maybe NCIS should do an episode around!)

Monday Night Football (ESPN but also ABC if you live in NY/NJ): NY Giants vs Philly Eagles

Batwoman (The CW): The group uses Ray's invention to track new recruits to help save the universe; Iris, Clark, and Lois search for a mysterious Kryptonian; Kate and Kara search for Bruce Wayne; Mia challenges Sara; Rory discovers a hidden talent (another one???): and Lex Luthor returns (oooh Jon Cryer's back in the mix!!!) Night Two of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" and Yeah this sounds like a lot! (I only ever saw the pilot to Batwoman, but it sounds like you really don't need to know that much about the show to jump in here seeing as how everyone in the plot synopsis is from a different show!)  (I love how this is shaping up to be The CW equivalent of "Night Of A Thousand Laughs!" I used to tape those every year when I was a kid!)

Antiques Roadshow (PBS): Two hours of  episodes set in New Orleans (ooh)--they're both reruns from the last week of Jan. and the first week of Feb of 2018 ---The first one includes "A diamond bracelet and a Van Cleef and Angels diamond ring; Mardi Gras Comus Krewe parade that watercolors from 1812; a Keith Harring subway grafitti art circa 1980" The second one includes "Blade Runner set decoration" (Ooohhhh!!!); Agnes martin mixed media abstractions circa 1955; and a father song golf ball circa 1840.(Antiques! Antiques! Antiques!)

A Christmas Cottage (Hallmark): Your Hallmark Channel Movie of the night is this one where "Lacey is asked to decorate the Christmas cottage, a cottage that comes with its own legend of love" (whatever that means!) Starring Merrit Patterson; Steve Lend; and Brittney Wilson. (shrugs)

8:30

Bob Hearts Abishola (CBS): Bob must gain the confidence to fight for Abishola when she goes on another date with Chukwuemeka (Yes that's his name! It is apparently quite common in Nigeria); Uncle Tunde finds an unlikely ally in Dottie in the aftermath of his fight with Auntie Olu. (Awww--the potential in-laws are bonding!)

9:00

All Rise (CBS): Lola exercises a rarely used judicial power when she fires a lawyer for failing to provide a robust defense for his client; Mark's dad is arrested for murder. (Poor Mark! Mark is Wilson Bethel btw--co-star of the show) (I really want this show to be better than it is, there's a good cast assembled in here--and the premise seems like it could be a good dramedy hybrid for CBS--but the execution has left something to be desired in the episodes i've seen--although it seems like its gradually pulling itself together somewhat)

The Moodys (FOX): Episodes 3 and 4 of this oddly scheduled Christmastime set show are being run here tonight---"When an unexpected guest shows up at the Moody house, caroling takes an embarrassing turn; Sean Jr finally agrees to join Sean Sr's Moody Heating and AC Business, but trouble ensures when a rival company infringes on their territory.  (I'm guessing Dennis Leary is Sean Sr. here--i've seen him in the ads that i've seen for the show, so i'm assuming he's the dad)

Black Lightning (The CW): The Pierce family fears for Jennifer's life. (I'm not entirely sure if this is gonna be Crisis on Infinite Earth connected or not but the show's title would certain lean in that direction as it is "Book of Resistance Chapter 4--Earth Crisis") (I'm sure The CW would love to make people think that this is connected)

His Dark Materials (HBO): Episode 6 of this non Crisis related show (yet still a WB property!) has "Lyra finding what she is looking for in the far North but still needs to survive the elements" (Episode is called "The Daemon Cages")

Wrap Battle (Freeform): Competitive show about gift wrappers has two back to back episodes tonight--one is titled "Wrapper's Delight" and the other is titled "Lights, Camera, Wraption" (C'mon Wraption!!!! If they did one that was set during the rapture, they'd probably call it "The Wrapture")

Pawn Stars (History): Revisiting some of the most dangerous and mysterious items that made their way into the pawn shop. (This has to be a clip show I mean c'mon--there's a new one on at 10 tho)

Holiday Baking Championship (FOOD)

Diesel Brothers (Discovery): Season 6 Premiere of this fixing up trucks entered show. (I did not know this was a show either!)

9:30

Green Acres (MeTV): A juvenile scientist claims to be in possession of a moon rock. (This totally sounds like it could be the plotline of a "Young Sheldon" episode. I mean seriously.) (The episode is titled "The Beeping Rock")

10:00

Bull (CBS): In a rerun episode from last April, Bull must defend the young heir of an infamous crime family and fearing that the son's last name will negatively influence the jury pool, tries to sever the trial from his more clearly guilty brother's trial which would then put them against one another (Never Go Against The Family Dr. Bull!!!) (I'm not entirely sure if i actually saw this one or not now--which is 100% why CBS does reruns better than any other network!)

Making It (NBC): Transforming an ordinary grocery store cake into an extraordinary confection (why can't they just say cake???); Turning a boring cubicle into an inspirational workspace (again why can't they just say cubicle???) (what's the deal with that Poehler and Offerman huh????)

Crime and Punishment (PBS): This two hour documentary from 2018 has as its synopsis "Amidst a landmark class action lawsuit over illegal policing quotas, filmmakers use footage recorded over four years to chronicle the real lives and struggles of black and Latino police officers"  (Nods--real life Blue Bloods perhaps???)

12 Gifts of Christmas (Hallmark): Because I'm a fan of unlikely pairings--here right next to the police quota documentary but airing at the exact same time is this Christmas TV movie about "A busy exec hires a struggling artist to help him with the Christmas shopping" (Ok that's silly even for me!) Starring Katrina Law (ooh! CBS!), Aaron O'Connell, and Donna Mills. (THE Donna Mills?!?!?!?)

Pawn Stars (History): A seller comes in with an explosive pair of crutches; Rick takes a swing at one of the first books written about basketball; Corey and Chum try their luck on a seller's antique wooden slot machine. (I wonder what makes the pair of crutches so explosive--are they like made out of nitroglycerin or something? God that sounds like something that would happen on Hawaii 5-0 honestly)

Christmas Cookie Challenge (Food):

Nazi Megachurches (Nat Geo): Hell Island--Vying for control of Guadalcanal

Twin Turbos (Discovery): This motorcycle repairing show returns for its second season tonight. (I did not know this was a show either!)

THAT'S ALL I GOT FOR RIGHT NOW. HAVE A GREAT START OF THE WORK WEEK AND HOPEFULLY I'll BE BACK TOMORROW WITH MORE GREAT LISTINGS! (GREAT LISTINGS?!?!?!? YEAH GREAT LISTINGS!!!)
