Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Oct. 9

Let's meet today's contestants:

- Steven, a graduate student from Maryland, was called Mookie in his Mets fan family;
- Emily, a museum educator from Washington, D.C., has the answers for questions from those crazy kids; and
- Jessica, a librarian from Maine, wants to ride a train across Canada. Jessica is a two-day champ with winnings of $32,600.

Emily took a slim lead on DD2, after which Steven missed DD3, so Emily held first position into FJ with $16,300 vs. $9,800 for champ Jessica and $7,600 for Steven.

DD1, $600 - NOT THE CAPITAL - Of England, though it's home to the country's most popular & successful pro sports team (Emily won $1,500 from her score of $2,000.)

DD2, $2,000 - BUILDINGS - This word for a certain tall structure comes from the Arabic for "lighthouse" (Emily won $3,000 from her total of $9,800 to take a $100 lead over Jessica.)

DD3, $1,600 - LIFE ON MARS - Everyone remember where we parked -- next to this NASA lander named for one who goes ahead and seeks the way (Steven lost $5,000 from his score of $9,000 vs. $16,300 for Emily.)

FJ - HIT 1980s ALBUMS - This American singer-songwriter briefly landed on the U.N.'s apartheid blacklist for his 1986 multi-platinum album

Jessica and Steven were correct on FJ, with Jessica adding $9,799 to win with $19,599 for a three-day total of $52,199.

Triple Stumpers of the day: In the "OK" category, a definition of being "pretentious about how much you care about a social issue" didn't lead the players to "woke", and for a video clue, Alex seemed genuinely shocked no one recognized the building style of an A-frame.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is Manchester?
DD2 - What is minaret?
DD3 - What is Pathfinder?
FJ - Who is Paul Simon?
