Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Oct. 2

Let's meet today's contestants:

- Bill, a medical oncologist from Rhode Island, works against breast cancer;
- Julie, a quality assurance analyst from Washington, D.C., rowed for Wellesley College; and
- Kevin, a university administrator from New York, used the equivalent of six dollars to bribe his way out of Bolivia. Kevin is a one-day champ with winnings of $23,000.

Champ Kevin shopped for, found and doubled up on DD3, which proved to be the difference in him having the lead going into FJ with $15,200 vs. $13,200 for Bill and $10.800 for Julie.

DD1, $800 - UNTRUE DETECTIVE - Robert B. Parker wrote "Perchance to Dream" as a sequel to this novel featuring Philip Marlowe (Bill won $2,400 from his leading total of $4,800.)

DD2, $1,200 - THE 17TH CENTURY - Around 1612 in Virginia, John Rolfe began growing this "brown gold"; soon the colony started shipping it to England (On the first clue of the round, Julie won $1,800 on a true DD.)

DD3, $1,200 - THE NEAREST OTHER NATIONAL CAPITAL - To Paris, France (Kevin won $4,000 on a true DD.)

FJ - ANIMAL AKAs - It's also called the czar fish

Kevin and Bill were correct on FJ, as Kevin added $11,201 to win with $26.401 for a two-day total of $49,401.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one guessed the last name of the founder of a Delaware company in 1802 is DuPont.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is "The Big Sleep"?
DD2 - What is tobacco?
DD3 - What is Brussels?
FJ - What is sturgeon?
