Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Sept. 16

Here are today's contestants:

- Rodrigo, financial analyst from Ontario, adopted a sleepy retired greyhound;
- Laura, a retired marketing director from Colorado, whose mom told her to pick up the pace of reading of J! clues; and
- Jason, a math teacher from New Mexico, played Trivial Pursuit by himself as a child. Jason is an 11-day champ with winnings of $332,243.

Once again Jason had $10,000 at the first break, scored on all three DDs and had an easy runaway at $34,400 vs. $8,800 for Laura and $200 for Rodrigo.

DD1, $800 - ART & ARTISTS  - Pastel colors & asymmetry are features of this style of Antoine Watteau, a reaction against Baroque art (Jason won $2,600 on a true DD.)

DD2, $1,600 - WHICH PRESIDENT? - 7 of the first 10 presidents were born south of the White House; Martin Van Buren and these 2 men were from the north (Jason won $7,000 from his score of $21,400.)

DD3, $1,600 - THIS CATEGORY HAS PLATEAUED - The Saharan al-Hamra plateau is mostly located in Tripolitania in this country (Jason won $3,000 from his total of $22,200.)

FJ - EUROPEAN AUTHORS - When he didn't win the inaugural Nobel Prize, 42 of his peers apologized to him, calling him "the most revered patriarch of today's literature" (Note: on the graphic shown during the thinking music, Nobel was misspelled as "Noble".)

Only Laura was correct on FJ. Jason dropped $10,000 to win with $24,400 for a 12-day total of $356,643.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one knew the sticky roll that's a fabric mesh between polyethylene and adhesive layers is duct tape.

This day in Trebekistan: Alex did an impression of Rodney Dangerfield and for some reason seemed a bit puzzled by the concept of watching Jeopardy! during dinner.

Shameless shilling: The action was stopped cold late in the game so Alex could read a plug for the upcoming Batman day.

Correct Qs:
DD1 - What is Rococo?
DD2 - Who were John Adams and John Quincy Adams?
DD3 - What is Libya?
FJ - Who was Tolstoy?
