What's On Tonight (Sunday): Au revoir to the paranormal, public servants, servers, and cinema

City on a Hill (via Giphy)
Good day and welcome to our all-inclusive TV listings. Here you will find all the new programs on major networks as well as those cable netlets you probably haven't heard of... Epix, Reelz, Nat Geo Wild, Smithsonian Channel, DIY. The highlights tonight are the large handful of shows wrapping up their season tonight. So... Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, August 18!

EARLY PRIMETIME

Doctor Who πŸ“Ί (Retro TV, 7 p.m.): In 17th century London, a group of fugitive aliens called Terileptils plot to make the Earth their new home by spreading a deadly plague among humanity. The Doctor (Peter Davison) is aided by Nyssa (Sarah Sutton), Tegan (Janet Fielding), and Adric (Matthew Waterhouse) – the latter, I believe, wonders if Tegan likes him.

Charmed πŸ“Ί (Pop, 7 p.m.): The Seer (Charisma Carpenter!), who knows the Avatars' plans, decided to cooperate with them and the Charmed Ones: she will help them finding powerful demons if they make her human. Phoebe gets to be her friend, but the three sisters must protect her from a deadly danger: Zankou (Oded Fehr!). Don't turn your head or you'll miss Corey Stoll as a demon – one of his earliest screen appearances. (As this arc continues in the next episode, watch out for Jon Hamm.)

Law & Order πŸ“Ί (WE, 6 p.m.): A charming real-estate broker (Tim Guinee) accused of murder defends himself and manages to get key evidence thrown out of the trial.

FOR THE RECORD60 Minutes (CBS, 7 p.m.); Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'n Out (VH1, 7 p.m.); Snapped (Oxygen, 6 p.m.)
The Rook (via Giphy)

πŸ•— EASTERN / πŸ•– CENTRAL

Celebrity Family Feud πŸ’² (ABC, 8 p.m.): Milo and Camryn Manheim, Marissa-Jaret Winokur, Nikki and Brie Bella, Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, Tyron Woodley, Ilima-Lei Macfarlane, and Ryan Bader feud amongst themselves.

⭐ Good Witch (Hallmark Channel, 8 p.m.): FINALE. Grace and Nick's graduation day arrives and Cassie tries her best to make the occasion truly magical. Bailee Madison bids farewell to this show. (TROPHY WIFE REVIVAL TROPHY WIFE REVIVAL TROPHY WIFE REVIVAL)

NFL Football (Fox, 8 p.m.): SPORTS🏈!

⭐ The Rook (Starz, 8 p.m.): FINALE. Myfanwy and Farrier quickly discover how dangerous life is outside of the Checquy, while Grantchester runs out of options.

Scandalous: The Death of Marilyn Monroe (Fox News, 8 p.m.): PREMIERE. This docuseries returns for season four, and this time focusing on Marilyn Monroe.

Serengeti (Discovery Channel, 8 p.m.): Tonight on the nature version of This Is Us, the anticipation of the Great Migration is felt by all of the Serengeti's families as they wait with great desperation for it to arrive. The land continues to get hotter and hunger starts to bite as food becomes even more scarce. Don't use a slow-cooker, critters!

Star Trek πŸ“Ί (Heroes & Icons, 8 p.m.): Spock kidnaps his former captain, the crippled Christopher Pike, and heads for a quarantined planet, putting his career and Kirk's life on the line. This episode, part one or two, uses a lot of the original pilot to create a flashback story.

Storm Stories: The Next Chapter (Weather Channel, 8 p.m.): PREMIERE. The network dedicated to meteorology revives the fan-favorite show Storm Stories for a new generation.

FOR THE RECORD90 Day FiancΓ©: Before the 90 Days (TLC); Beachfront Bargain Hunt (HGTV); Big Brother (CBS); Evil Lives Here (ID); A Lie to Die For (Oxygen); The Real Housewives of the Potomac (Bravo); Ridiculousness (MTV); Sunday Best (Bravo); Vengeance: Killer Neighbors (HLN)

πŸ•˜ EASTERN / πŸ•— CENTRAL

The $100,000 Pyramid πŸ’² (ABC, 9 p.m.): Hill Harper, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Sara Haines, and James Van Der Beek are like Egyptians, building pyramids.

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: A Very Foul Play (Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, 9 p.m.): Aurora and friends are off to a resort for a true crime convention (which can never end well). While there, they take part in a mystery dinner theater, but art imitates life when a fellow actor gets killed.

⭐ City on a Hill (Showtime, 9 p.m.): FINALE. Jackie celebrates another moment in the spotlight, and Decourcy considers the best course of action to carry out justice for the murdered guards.

Cola Wars (History, 9 p.m.): This two-hour doc is yet another look at the rivalry between Coke and Pepsi with emphasis on the New Coke debacle of 1985.

Downton Abbey Live! (PBS, 9 p.m.): Despite the title, this isn't a live reenactment of an episode or scenes. *raspberry noise* Just a behind-the-scenes and Q&A special. *yawn*

Fear the Walking Dead (AMC, 9 p.m.): Morgan and Grace search an abandoned shopping mall for supplies and to fulfill a dying man's wish but the mission quickly turns to a fight for survival. But isn't a fight for survival the synopsis for the entire series?

I Am Patrick Swayze (Paramount Network, 9 p.m.): Nobody puts Swayze in the corner. This documentary examines the life and career of the prolific actor through family photos, home movies and untold stories. Some men need to be documented back.

Instinct (CBS, 9 p.m.): Ryan and Dylan's biggest lead in the Sleeping Beauty Killer case takes them to a face-off aboard a ship. Dylan receives troubling news from his father. Later, Dylan and Lizzie investigate deaths of family members who were business partners in a craft brewery, and Andy's legal expertise is needed when he and Dylan confront an issue in their adoption process.

John Wayne Gacy: Killer Clown's Revenge, Part 1 (Reelz, 9 p.m.): If you want to know about the infamous American serial killer, here is your program. But, why?

Ted Bundy: Mind of a Monster (ID, 9 p.m.): Exclusive access and never-before-heard testimony gives a unique insight into the mind of America's most notorious serial killer, Ted Bundy... again: because...??

The Movies (CNN, 9 p.m.): FINALE. When you are telling the story of movies, you summarize the first 70s years into two hours and use it as the final chapter. My take: The episode order of this docuseries is so dumb.

Pennyworth (Epix, 9 p.m.): Alfred and Martha Kane take a choo-choo ride into the countryside on an assignment, while tragedy strikes in London.

Saints & Sinners (Bounce, 9 p.m.): Ella and Rex make a deal as the FBI closes in. FBI??? Uhhh, this show is about a church congregation.

Succession (HBO, 9 p.m.): The description says: "Roman and Kendall do a routine health check of a new media brand to help Vaulter to determine the future of the company. Tom tasks Greg with sniffing out waste at ATN. Connor and Willa host a soiree to mark their return to New York." WHY IS THERE NO MENTION OF SHIV!

⭐ Sweetbitter (Starz, 9 p.m.): FINALE. Tess learns the truth about Jake and Simone's past, so she forms a plan to get everything she wants in the restaurant. Later, Tess and Jake take their relationship to the NEXT LEVEL, causing tension with Simone. Meanwhile, Will uses his power for a questionable purpose. A superpower? Probably not.

πŸ•™ EASTERN / πŸ•˜ CENTRAL

The Johnny Cash Show πŸ“Ί (getTV, 10 p.m.): Hey hey, The Monkees, Joni Mitchell, and Roy Clark join Johnny in this 1969 episode.

Preacher (AMC, 10 p.m.): Tulip forges an unexpected alliance to plumb Masada's dungeons and free whatever remains of Cassidy. Jesse's mission to Australia may be over before it's even started as he finds himself stranded.

The Righteous Gemstones (HBO, 10 p.m.): PREMIERE. After returning from a baptism marathon in China with his father and brother, Jesse Gemstone receives a video from blackmailers looking to ruin his reputation.

To Tell the Truth πŸ’² (ABC, 10 p.m.): The truthers tonight are Adam Pally, Mayim Bialik, Chris D'Elia, and Nicole Byer.

FOR THE RECORDBar Rescue (Paramount Network); If We Built It Today (Science); Impact of Murder (ID); Island Hunters (HGTV); Out There with Jack Randall (Nat Geo Wild); Raising Wild (Discovery Channel); Revenge Body with KhloΓ© Kardashian (E!); Strange World (Travel Channel); Unexpected (TLC); Weather Gone Viral (Weather Channel); The Weekly (FX)

πŸ•š EASTERN / πŸ•™ CENTRAL

The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour πŸ“Ί (getTV, 11 p.m.): Tony Curtis and Dinah Shore dropped by back in 1972.

In 1987, CBS axed Pyramid for newcomer Blackout, which was a bomb (just ask Jay). It was bad enough that Pyramid got a brief revival to finish the season because Blackout was that bad. In late summer, the Family Feud revival took the timeslot.

πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ˜΄πŸ’€πŸ’€

77 Sunset Strip πŸ“Ί (Decades, 1 a.m.): By the end of season four, this detective drama was starting to run out of steam, but still put out some solid episodes. This is my choice for the last strong outing. A killers ability to keep one step ahead of lieutenant Gilmore is having its effect on the policeman's reputation, until Spencer steps in.

Squidbillies (Adult Swim, midnight): Early and Tammi start a band.

FOR THE RECORDBig Brother After Dark (Pop, midnight)

After a couple years of shaky lineups, CBS came roaring back on Mondays in 1962 with game shows opening the night and then a lineup of classic sitcoms. Fall of 1962 was also only a couple months after To Tell the Truth began its daytime run, too. For two years, CBS dominated all but the last hour of Monday and To Tell the Truth, was a popular hit. The network struggled in the last hour because Americans loved them some Ben Casey on ABC.

LATE-NIGHT TALK & SATIRE

Johnny Carson πŸ“Ί (Antenna TV, 10 p.m.): Flip Wilson, Pat Boone, Tom Dreesen, and Lendon Smith plus Johnny impersonates Anne, Princess Royal & Mark Phillips and Things You Should Do Once In Your Life (23 Jul 1976)
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO, 11 p.m.)
Nightly Pop (E!, 11 p.m.)
Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj (Netflix, 3 a.m.)
Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen (Bravo, 10 p.m.): 50 Cent and Kate Upton
