In the time since my last update, Elsbeth, Fire Country, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, Matlock, and Tracker have been renewed before May (-500 each). ABC also announced RJ Decker, but I'm afraid it was announced too late to be included on anyone's ballots. Memory of a Killer has a Metacritic score of 55 and Bad Medicine has a Metacritic score of 60 (+300 points each). Please let me know if I missed anything.

I still need to make the spreadsheet, but here's where things stand after a month of the 2025-26 TV season. Right now, almost all we've got relates to the new series' Metacritic scores, plus David Del Rio being fired from Matlock and Mehcad Brooks' amicable departure from Law & Order, unless I've missed some news.

As of Sunday, Sept. 7, we're at 19 contestants. The deadline to become a contestant is next Sunday, Sept. 14, the day of the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. Also, I realized that I can't give demerits as planned for Shifting Gears having more episodes ordered by ABC. The show's only got an order for three more episodes, when my rule says it's got to be five to nine more episodes ordered. Next year, I'll change the rule, but until now, some players can celebrate slipping out of the hangman's noose.

This is a cancellation league, not a success league. The contest begins Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025.

I'm preparing for CL 2024-2025 to conclude next Sunday. We're just waiting on the fates of five shows: Doctor Odyssey (first season finale Thursday), Grosse Pointe Garden Society (first season finale Friday), Accused (concluded its second season in December), Brilliant Minds (concluded its first season in January), and The Hunting Party (concluded its first season last month). If Alert or The Cleaning Lady are cancelled, it's worth kitty points. I wouldn't hold my breath about word on Good Cop/Bad Cop, but I will give it 100 presumptive points if there's no word by Saturday.

We've got just one item this week: The Equalizer being cancelled after five seasons (+500), with one burnoff (+100), and extra chickenshit points for the news being dumped on a Friday night (+250).

We've got just three items this week: Poppa's House being cancelled after 17 episodes (+100), with one burnoff (+100), and receiving One and Done points for more or less finishing its season without the end notice or removal from the schedule (+750). Also, Doctor Odyssey and The Equalizer once again receive 250 points each for being bubble series.

This week saw the renewals of The Simpsons, Grey's Anatomy, and Shifting Gears (-500 each), but also Doctor Odyssey not being in ABC's mass renewal (-500) and Accused being declared a bubble series (+250). I'm also giving 1,150 in kitty points for The Cleaning Lady also being declared a bubble series (+250) and the de facto cancellations of The Great North after five seasons and Grimsburg and Universal Basic Guys after two seasons each. This week, The Hunting Party and Good Cop, Bad Cop wrap it up. Check your scores!

This week's activities include Watson being renewed early (-500). Thanks to this, Michael gets the 500 points for clearing his ballot first.

Also, +250 more points for The Equalizer and Poppa's House remaining bubble series.

This coming week, Rescue: HI-Surf concludes its season.

This week's activity was the de facto cancellation of Grosse Pointe Garden Society after four episodes (+500), with nine burnoffs (+900). Coming this week, The Irrational's season finale. Check your scores!

Last week included +1,300, kitty points, for FBI: International ending after four seasons with presumably nine burnoffs (may be adjusted) and +1,500, kitty points, for FBI: Most Wanted ending after six seasons with presumably nine burnoffs (may be adjusted).

Last week also included +200, Grosse Pointe Garden Society reaching an all-time ratings low, +800, S.W.A.T. being cancelled after eight seasons, +200, S.W.A.T. having its second cancellation by CBS, +500, Shemar Moore publicly trying to drum up interest for the show continuing, and +900, nine burnoffs.
