Here are today's contestants:
- Jessica Davis, a proofreader from Colonie, New York;
- Michael Yates, a finance professor from Knoxville, Tennessee; and
- Caleb Groen, a law and policy student originally from Thousand Oaks, California. Caleb is a three-day champ with winnings of $49,999.
Jeopardy!
NOT GREAT, BOB! // YOU ASKED FOR IT // ON THE BOOKSHELF // EVERYBODY'S GOT A PLAN // UNTIL THEY... // GET PUNCHED IN THE FACE
DD1 - $1,000 - EVERYBODY'S GOT A PLAN - At the 1787 Constitutional Convention, Edmund Jennings Randolph presented the Virginia Plan that this man drafted (Michael doubled to $7,200.)
Scores at first break: Caleb $3,000, Michael $2,600, Jessica $2,000.
Scores entering DJ: Caleb $6,000, Michael $8,400, Jessica $1,800.
Double Jeopardy!
FAMOUS BUILDINGS // FROM THE NASA WEBSITE // QUOTATIONS // TV TITLE BEFORE & AFTER // WELL, THAT'S JUST GREAT // ENOUGH ALREADY
DD2 - $1,200 - WELL, THAT'S JUST GREAT - Described by an American astronomer in 1878, this storm system is 10,000 miles wide & rotates counterclockwise (Michael improved by $5,000 to $16,600 vs. $7,600 for Caleb.)
DD3 - $1,200 - QUOTATIONS - This Supreme Court justice in 2023, a year after being sworn in: "deeming race irrelevant in law does not make it so in life" (On the next clue after DD2, MIchael dropped $6,000.)
Michael extended his lead in the first two DDs, but the game got close again when he missed DD3, then Caleb got on a roll to lead into FJ at $17,600. Jessica rallied nicely late and tied Michael for second position at $10,600.
Final Jeopardy!
THE FUNNIES - The creator of this comic strip said, "I show 2 versions of reality, & each makes complete sense to the participant who sees it"
Everyone was correct on FJ. Caleb was profitable on final clue for the first time, adding $3,601 to win with $21,201 for a four-day total of $71,200.
Final scores: Caleb $21,201, Michael $14,000, Jessica $18,800.
Wagering strategy: Surprisingly, both of the players tied for second did not go all-in on FJ, as they seemed to focus their wagers on the leader rather than each other.
One more thing: After Michael missed DD3 on the tenth clue, he did not get to respond again for the rest of DJ.
Correct Qs: DD1 - Who was Madison? DD2 - What is Great Red Spot? DD3 - Who is Jackson? FJ - What is Calvin and Hobbes?
