Jeopardy! recap for Fri., Apr. 3

 Here are today's contestants:

- Robyn Horn, a commercial real estate broker from Seattle, Washington;

- Emmitt Laurie, a poker player from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and

- Jamie Ding, a bureaucrat and law student from Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Jamie is a 15-day champ with winnings of $428,000.

Jeopardy!

AMERICAN HISTORY // PHRASE & SPOONERISM // BIOPICS // CASTLING // "K.K." // WHATEVER

DD1 - $600 - AMERICAN HISTORY - The Battle of San Juan Hill was the bloodiest for U.S. forces in this war; our foe had half as many casualties (Jamie added $5,000 up to $12,000.)

Scores at first break: Jamie $6,200, Emmitt $1,600, Robyn $1,000.

Scores entering DJ: Jamie $14,600, Emmitt $1,000, Robyn $2,200.

Double Jeopardy!

GIANTS OF MUSIC // 10-LETTER WORLD CAPITALS // FICTIONAL CHARACTER, WHO SAID IT? // ALLITERATIVE ANIMALS // CONSTANT, DOGGED, UNRELENTING PERSISTENCE // "ISH"

DD2 - $1,600 - ALLITERATIVE ANIMALS - With a wingspan nearing 10 feet, this magnificent bird once ranged across most of the Western United States (Jamie improved by $3,200 up to $25,000 vs. $5,000 for Emmitt.)

DD3 - $1,200 - 10-LETTER WORLD CAPITALS - A port city on the Rio de la Plata, it's the southernmost capital in South America (Emmitt doubled to $14,000 vs. $25,000 for Jamie.)

Jamie led at every break, but Emmitt was able to find DD3, double-up and keep the game alive into FJ at $17,200 vs. $29,400 for Jamie and $5,400 for Robyn.

Final Jeopardy!

90s TELEVISION - "Northwest Passage" was a working title of this series that was renamed for mountains

Jamie and Robyn were correct on FJ, with Jamie adding $5,001 to win with $34,401 for a 16-day total of $462,401.

Final scores: Jamie $56,400, Emmitt $0, Robyn $10,000.

Clue selection strategy: AMERICAN HISTORY for $600 is probably one of the two most obvious places for DD1 to be located, yet it stayed on the board all the way until selection 21.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is Spanish-American War? DD2 - What is California Condor? DD3 - What is Montevideo? FJ - What is "Twin Peaks"?
