Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Nov. 3

 Here are today's contestants:

- Joyelle McSweeney, a poet & English professor from South Bend, Indiana;

- W.A. Robison, a retired educator from Natchitoches, Louisiana; and

- Christopher Tillman, a pastor from Plover, Wisconsin. Christopher is a two-day champ with winnings of $25,600.

Jeopardy!

SPORTS THAT DON'T INVOLVE RUNNING // WHAT'S THE NAME? // GOING THE EXTRA MILE // COMPOUND WORDS // TO EARN THE SCOUTING MERIT BADGE... // GOOD MORNING AMERICA: 50 YEARS OF NEWS

DD1 - $600 - SPORTS THAT DON'T INVOLVE RUNNING - olympics.com describes this sport as "formerly the world's major form of long-distance trade and transport" (Christopher lost $2,400 on a true DD.)

Scores at first break: Christopher $200, W.A. $2,600, Joyelle $2,600.

Scores entering DJ: Christopher $400, W.A. $3,600, Joyelle $4,800.

Double Jeopardy!

17th CENTURY HAPPENINGS // "M.W." // AMERICAN AUTHORS // MARTIAL ARTS // GREAT SONGS // THE ANIMAL KINGDOM

DD2 - $1,200 - THE ANIMAL KINGDOM - The loudest of all monkeys, this primate makes itself known in the forests of Central & South America (W.A. dropped $2,000 from his score of $6,800.)

DD3 - $1,600 - MARTIAL ARTS - This Korean martial art became an Olympic medal sport at the 2000 Games in Sydney (Christopher lost $5,200 on a true DD vs. $12,800 for Joyelle.)

Joyelle opened a lead with a strong performance in a category about authors, then had the game in hand when Christopher missed an all-in on DD3. Into FJ it was Joyelle at $17,600, W.A. with $4,800 and Christopher at $2,800.

Final Jeopardy!

THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE - Officially getting an international border in 1848, this area of land is up to 150 miles wide & has about 2,000 miles of coastline

Only Joyelle was correct on FJ, adding just $100 to win with $17,700.

Final scores: Christopher $799, W.A. $3,999, Joyelle $17,700.

Clue selection strategy: In DJ, five top-row clues were chosen with both DDs still on the board. Then after DD2 was found, Joyelle and W.A. continued to choose from that same category, while Christopher was the only player shopping for DD3, which at least gave him the opportunity to get back in the game.

Valuation station: In a music category, a Triple Stumper clue about "Sicko Mode" was deemed to be worth less than one about perhaps the most overplayed song of the past 50 years, "Stairway to Heaven".

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is sailing? DD2 - What is howler monkey? DD3 - What is taekwondo? FJ - What is Baja California?
