Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Oct. 15

 Here are today's contestants:

  • Tafari Mbadiwe, a management consultant from New York City;

  • Delaney O'Dea, an undergraduate student from Santa Monica, California; and

  • Chris McGinn, an editor from Indian Land, South Carolina. Chris is a one-day champ with winnings of $22,000.

Jeopardy!

GEOGRAPHY WITH VAMPIRE WEEKEND // THAT’S ALL, FOLK TALES // STOCK SYMBOLS // STARTS WITH A PREPOSITION // BROADWAY // LEFTIES

DD1 - $800 – STARTS WITH A PREPOSITION – The general vibe of a place, or a pressure of 14.7 pounds per square inch (Chris added $1,000.)

Scores at first break: Chris $4,400, Delaney $4,200, Tafari $1.600.

Scores after round one: Chris $5,600, Delaney $5,600, Tafari $4.600.

Double Jeopardy!

INTO THE WOODS // NONFICTION // MOVIE ROLE, TV ROLE // THE HOLE TRUTH // 12-LETTER WORDS // BLACK HISTORY WITH HENRY LOUIS GATES, JR.

DD2 - $2,000 – INTO THE WOODS – Though the name means “beyond the forest”, this region has its own woodlands like Hoia-Baciu (Delaney increased her lead by $2,400 to a score of $10,000.)

DD3 - $2,000 – 12-LETTER WORDS – When you are guided into a trance-like state to treat things like anxiety or stress (Delaney lost $4,000 but still held first place with $10,800.)

Delaney had the lead when she found DD3 but missed, so all three players stayed alive into FJ with Delaney at $11,600, Tafari with $9,000 and Chris at $8,000.

Final Jeopardy!

PUBLIC FIGURES – Foreshadowing his 1978 death, he said, “If a bullet should enter my brain, let that bullet destroy every closet door”

Only Delaney was correct on FJ, adding $7,000 to win with $18,600.

Final scores: Chris $8,000, Delaney $18,600, Tafari $1,999.

Triple Stumper of the day: The players appeared to forget the category when they all took an incorrect guess about the Teton range in this valley, Jackson Hole.

This day in non-shilling: This was the proper way to do a guest-presented category, with an expert on a subject that is legitimate Jeopardy! material, not an excuse to do a plug. It would have been perfect if not for the three leftovers it helped create.

Correct Qs: DD1 – What is atmosphere? DD2 – What is Transylvania? DD3 – What is hypnotherapy? FJ – Who was Harvey Milk?
