What's On Tonight (Thursday): Running on schedule

Tonight's Top Pick is Running Point, Kate Hudson's new sitcom for Netflix. She plays the new president of the "Los Angeles Waves" basketball team. It just goes to show that most ideas eventually happen.

While I lament not copywriting and writing my idea, Are You Ready for Betty?, about the first female head of the NFL -- I imagined it as a vehicle for Melissa McCarthy, a comedy drama -- let's see what else TV has to offer us for Thursday, Feb. 27. All times are EST.

STREAMING
Running Point, 3:01 a.m., Netflix. Series premiere. "When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) is appointed president of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job." Costarring Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, and Max Greenfield. Ten episodes available.

Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke, 12:01 a.m., Hulu. Series premiere. "When popular vlogger Ruby Franke is arrested for child abuse in August 2023, it quickly becomes one of the biggest trending stories in America. For years, the Frankes' YouTube channel had documented a wholesome, happy family life, with 2.5 million subscribers tuning in at its peak. But happy families are rarely what they seem. As the cracks began to show, the family turned to counselor Jodi Hildebrandt for guidance - and rapidly found themselves trapped in a nightmare." Three episodes available.

House of David, 3:01 a.m., Amazon. Series premiere. "Tells the story of the ascent of the biblical figure, David (Michael Iskander), who eventually becomes the most renowned and celebrated king of Israel. The series follows the once-mighty King Saul (Ali Suliman) as he falls victim to his own pride. At the direction of God, the prophet Samuel (Stephen Lang) anoints an unlikely, outcast teenager as the new king. As Saul loses his power over his kingdom, David finds himself on a journey to discover and fulfill his destiny, navigating love, loss, and violence in the court of the very man he's destined to replace. As one leader falls, another must rise." Three episodes available, followed by one per week.

Toxic Town, 3:01 a.m., Netflix. Series premiere. "When dozens of babies in Corby are born with disabilities, their mothers embark on a battle to hold those responsible to account. Based on a true story." Four episodes available.

Fighting to Be Me: The Dwen Curry Story, 3:01 a.m., BET+. Special presentation. "Celebrity stylist/fashion icon Dwen Curry (Dyllón Burnside) secretly finances a lavish lifestyle by fraudulently acquiring millions using her criminal organization, while grappling with family, love, identity, and the dangers of leading a criminal life."

School Spirits, 3:01 a.m., Paramount+. "Anatomy of a Fallout Shelter." "Janet is finally ready to give answers. While Mr. Martin hatches a plan, Maddie reevaluates her relationships with Wally and Simon and weighs the pros and cons of getting her body back. At the same time, Quinn makes a discovery."
