The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy |
Some days I have to get through every trailer before I can designate a Top Pick, and then there are days when all I have to do is read the description. This week's Top Pick, The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy, hit's a few sweet spots for me: animated, sci-fi, comedy, Maya Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne, etc... The animation doesn't look particularly impressive, but it does give off a nice BoJack Horseman vibe. My expectations are high for this one. I hope it delivers.
TOP PICK
⭐ ๐ The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy (Amazon, 12:01 AM) SERIES PREMIERE. 'Follows Dr. Sleech and Dr. Klak - aliens, best friends, and intergalactically renowned surgeons - as they tackle anxiety-eating parasites, illegal time loops, and deep-space STIs. Featuring the voices of Keke Palmer, Kieran Culkin, Maya Rudolph and Natasha Lyonne.'✔️
Elsewhere...
*Max has the streaming premiere of Sofia Coppola's Priscilla. It's about how Elvis became infatuated with a 14-year-old girl who he eventually married. Wow, when you write that out it looks really bad. Don't worry, I'm sure there's at least one montage set to "Burning Love."
*Amazon has an Indian import series called Poacher about a bunch of people trying to take down huge ivory poachers. The trailer actually looks really good, but one thing that surprised me was how good the creature effects are. You can tell they're CGI, but they're much better than I have come to expect, especially from a TV series.
*Tyler Perry has his latest film, Mea Culpa, debuting on Netflix today. The lead character's first name is Mea. That's the kind of subtle writing I expect from the creator of Madea. I'm just kinda surprised he didn't make her last name "Culpa." I guess Perry is learning a little restraint in his maturing years.
