So what did Harlan Crow get out of sponsoring Clarence Thomas, the kid and his mom? Not just consideration before the court. He got a gigantic tax break and that's why they really don't want Congress to look into it. [ProPublica]
Another Clarence Thomas backer is Leonard Leo, head of the Federalist Society. He bought into an old money town in Maine and in stereotypical nouveau riche fashion has decided that he's more important than the law. People say something he doesn't like? They get arrested. [New Yorker]

The increasingly bald Trump's attempt to retry the E. Jean Carroll verdict against him was not only rejected on its face but the appellate judge pointed out the glaring fallacy in Trump's claim that Carroll had not proven "rape". It's now a matter of public record that what happened may not have fit the narrow definition of legal rape according to NY law but it was indeed rape as commonly understood. So we can now officially add "Rapist" as a descriptor for Trump. This is literally "fuck around and find out." [Associated Press]
