Politics Corner May 9th

There's too much news today. I really wanted talk about the possibility of same-sex marriage in India which is really exciting but there's just no time. [NPR]

Let's get the elephant in the dressing room out of the way. Trump was found liable of all but one charge today to the tune of $5 million. Yes he will appeal. No he won't win on appeal. Unfortunately most Republicans won't care. I'm hoping women and "independents" are repulsed by this. If not, there's no hope for the US. [Associated Press]

Florida has rejected a third of social studies texts and forced changes in most of the rest. Guess what they're finding objectionable? Things like George Floyd. But there's no time! [Tampa Bay Times]

Because Harlan Crow has refused to cooperate with the Senate and giving them an idea of how much in bribes he has given Clarence Thomas. Perhaps he believes he is above the law because he has a Supreme Court Justice in his pocket. [CNN]

Does anyone really have any time for Tucker Carlson? Other than Elon Musk? [Axios]

It's more important that Diane Feinstein returned to the Senate and the Judiciary Committee today. Maybe we'll see some forward movement on Thomas as well as Roberts, Gorsuch, Kagen and Kavanaugh. As a bonus, Kamala Harris can catch a break. [NPR]

I have never had time for George Santos and it's no surprise that he might be serving time. [CNN]

California has released a plan for reparations. It's complicated. It's only going to get more complicated. It's certainly going to wind up in court. It might be settled in our lifetimes. [SFGate
