The NAACP is suing the state of Mississippi with due cause. The majority white and Republican state government has determined that the Capital police should have joint jurisdiction and state courts will hear municipal Jackson cases. Jackson is 83% black. The NAACP complains that this is "separate but equal policing." They are correct. The citizens of Jackson will lose all meaningful local control of their own police and courts. The judges will be appointed by the chief justice of the state. Of course he a conservative white man. [PBS News Hour]
