What's On Tonight (Sunday): Law in the Family

Family Law

It's beyond my control! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, November 6!

Our Top Pick tonight is the light freshman drama Family Law (The CW, 8 p.m.). The case-of-the-week Canadian import is not related to that Family Law or that Family Law. It's about recovering alcoholic and lawyer Abigail Bianchi (Jewel Staite) trying to get her life together after a lifeline from her estranged father, big-shot lawyer Harry Svensson (Victor Garber). Also at the firm are Abby's two step siblings Zach Smadu and Genelle Williams, who have clashing views on Dad. Lots of family drama drizzled with plenty of light humor. I like it.

Elsewhere, Alice Englert and Nicholas Denton are some Dangerous LiaisonsVampires leave New Orleans, NicΓ΄le Lecky is in a Mood, Annika goes to the museum, Phil Spector gets docuseries treatment, FBI stops by, and everybody loves Celebrity Jeopardy!

πŸ“Ί All Creatures Great and Small (BritBox, now): This is how I prefer creatures that are both great and small. The original series, which also aired stateside courtesy of Masterpiece, was largely the same show, but I liked the organic-ness to a lot of the plots that were there from day 1 in the remake. Peter Davison's Tristian is so much better than NuCreatures' Tristan.

πŸŽ₯πŸŽ„ All Saints Christmas (Hallmark Channel): It's been a couple centuries since the old Elvish religion of Nordiska was a dominant force on the continent. What remains of it is largely traditions based on its holidays with All Saints Day being the grandest. It's still a time for friends and families to get together and share their fall harvest, though largely gone is the honoring of various saints, all of whom are well removed from the Elvish life on Christmasia as the saints are all from their homeland of Norse. While Nordiska stuck with Elves for many generations, as more interspecific relationships occurred, old traditions and beliefs of all began to wane and get blended together. For this All Saints Day, culture reporter Elisabeth Lane is doing a generic piece looking at the celebrations that have been blended into All Saints Day – the gnomic celebration Allemagne, the whos with Whofest, and leprechauns with Gaeltaine. As Elisabeth talks to Nordiskan preacher Ye Faithful, she wonders if there's more to the modern story. For a follow-up piece, she meets with him in person, only to find herself at his new religious school where students are cut off from the outside world and the teachings are strictly to the old beliefs and traditions. Elisabeth expected to see how a traditional All Saints Day was, instead she might never leave and endure a secret, underground school where lessons are taught with the utmost physical discipline. This includes classic wear like the harvest crown and robes that present your societal status and class.

Dangerous Liaisons (Starz): SERIES PREMIERE. A pair of scheming ex-lovers (Alice Englert, Nicholas Denton) attempt to exploit others by using the power of seduction. This is a TV adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos' classic 18th century novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Lesley Manville and Carice van Houten are among the other stars.✔️

Family Law (The CW): The lawyers are bewildered when a young couple begs them to reverse an adoption after learning about the baby's serious health issues. Abigail determines that the father is driving the decision, and convinces the mother to fight to keep the baby.

FBI (CBS, 8:30 p.m.): As the team works to rescue a 5-year-old kidnapping victim, Scola suspects the boy's mother isn't being forthcoming about why her son was targeted. Nina struggles to open up to Scola about matters in their relationship.

Miss Scarlet and the Duke (PBS): Eliza investigates a case of blackmail and finds herself with a new rival, Patrick Nash, the owner of a large private detective agency who wants to hire her or crush her agency.

Ruby and the Well (BYUtv): Ruby and her friends embark on a thrilling and unexpected adventure close to home as they try to recover something precious lost by a wisher. As Ava plans Mina's upcoming birthday, she and Daniel bond.
