What's On Tonight (Friday): Break Out Your Old Cranberries CDs...

Derry Girls

It's time for one last trip to late 90s Northern Ireland with the final season of Derry Girls.  There's only seven episodes this season bringing the grand total to a whopping NINETEEN.  I would have liked more but the first two seasons were kind of perfect.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for a continuation of some sort, but in the meantime I will just rewatch the episodes we have.

Elsewhere, everybody is getting their spooky offerings out...

*First up, Disney+ has a new Marvel special presentation, Werewolf by Night.  I can't tell from the trailer if this is connected to the larger MCU, or if this is its own thing, but the trailer certainly doesn't look like any other MCU film or TV show I've seen.  The reviews are good (97% Fresh), but strangely, it's only 53 minutes long.  I guess brevity can be a good thing but why not just make it movie length?  This is Werewolf by Night not Werewolf by the Hour.

*Not to be outdone by their sister streamer, Hulu has a new Hellraiser.  The new Hellraiser is a woman.  CUE THE OUTRAGE.

*Netflix has a new series about terminally ill teens dealing with supernatural bullshit.  It's from the people who made The Haunting of Hill House seriesWithout saying anything further, you should already know whether this is for you or not.

*Netflix also has a new mystery/suspense series starring Mila Kunis called The Luckiest Girl Alive.  The title would seem to imply there might be a luckier girl out there who is dead, but seeing as she's dead, she probably couldn't be all that lucky.

*CBS says, "to hell with spooky nonsense, we got shows to premiere!" and then promptly takes over the fire station and moves it out to northern California.  Fire Country is from Bruckheimer, so you know it'll be pretty slick, but how many different ways can you show people fighting fires?  You may also wonder how they can have a new fire every week, and I repeat, this takes place in Northern California.  They had a half dozen forest fires break out just as I was writing this sentence.
