What's On Tonight (Friday): In the Land of the Blind, Momoa is King...

 

See

See is a show I never knew much about beyond starring Jason Momoa.  I only picked up Apple TV in the past few months and it wasn't tops on my list (Foundation, Severance and Mythic Quest shared that honor).  Now I've heard from multiple people that it is actually really good, and I should give it a shot.  I'm still working my way through For All Mankind (another show I should have checked out earlier) among other shows but I may have to preempt them.  I've been a fan of Momoa's since Stargate: Atlantis and who am I to not support him now?

*The whole "old superhero comes back one more time to save the city" is nothing new, but the hook to Amazon's Samaritan is the superhero is played by Sylvester Stallone. The reviews are mixed (42% fresh as of Thursday evening), but Stallone looks like he's having fun in the trailer and that's enough of a draw for me.  

*Discovery+ whips out more real estate porn with Diary of an Old Home.  Come watch people who live in homes you could never afford do wonderous things to them you can only dream of.  I just got exterior electrical outlets put on my house and that was enough to make my week.

*Netflix has Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg starring as old friends who get back together for the latter's birthday after the former hasn't had any time away from his family in years.  One of the jokes in the trailer involves Hart having to poop in a can in the desert.  No thanks.

I enjoyed the first episode of Bad Sisters, but the stand-out show for this past week was Netflix's Echoes.  It starts off nuts and just keeps doubling down on the insanity, but it does run out of steam (and crazy ass twists) by the last episode (there is one last reveal, but you see it coming from a mile away).  Regardless of whether the show was ultimately good or not there is no denying that Michelle Monaghan chews the hell out of the scenery.
