Tenacious D Release Who Medley in Support of Gun Control. They took on “Pinball Wizard,” “There’s A Doctor,” and “Go To The Mirror! The medley will be released as a seven-inch single with all of the proceeds going to Everytown For Gun Safety. [Spin] 


2022 Tony Awards Recap. The big winners of the 75th Tony Awards included the play The Lehman Trilogy, and the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical A Strange Loop. The evening was hosted by the charming and completely committed Oscar winner Ariana DeBose, and filled with musical performances, emotional acceptance speeches, and a tribute to Stephen Sondheim. The Smile Announce North American Tour Dates. Last month, Radiohead side-project The Smile released their debut album A Light for Attracting Attention, which was produced by Nigel Godrich. Spin liked the album a lot, so much so that they named it the best album of 2022 to date. [Spin]

1995: Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette releases her breakthrough album, the alt-rock classic Jagged Little Pill. I still have the concert T-shirt; I am doubtful this affords me any street cred or coolness.

June 14
2002: Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones is knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

June 15
1989: Nirvana's debut album, Bleach, is released, with a cover tune as its lead single.

 
June 16
1972: David Bowie unveils his landmark album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. His breakthrough LP, it sells over 7 million copies and is hailed as one of the greatest albums of all time.


June 17
1994: Megadeth is kicked off their tour with Aerosmith after Dave Mustaine is heard in an interview saying that his band should be the headliners. Jackyl and 4 Non Blondes open the remaining dates on the US tour.

June 18
2000: The Experience Music Project, a museum including permanent exhibitions on Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana, opens in Seattle. I haven't been there in almost 20 years, but it was a very neat experience if you're ever in the Seattle area. In 2016, the name changed to Museum of Pop Culture, or MoPOP. June 19
1971: Carole King's album Tapestry hits #1 in the US, where it stays for 15 weeks.
