What's On Tonight (Saturday): The other first question. The question that must never be answered, hidden in plain sight

Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Welcome to WOT, where the lineups are predetermined and the CL points do matter! Here's what's on television for tonight, Saturday, January 8!

Our top pick tonight is veteran improv show Whose Line Is It Anyway? (The CW, 8 p.m.). It's been nearly 25 years, so maybe tonight is the night American find out whose line it really is. Like all recent episodes, the show is running on unused footage. I don't think the show has shot new material in 2 or 3 years.

Elsewhere, Assassination Classroom is back in session, Austin City Limits gives its honors, Toonami serves three new Narutos, HGTV has some Unfinished Business, the bodyguard protects the wife of the hitman, A&E enjoys a murderer, and Get TV loves ya, baby.

🎥 In the Heat of the Night (Cinemax / Roku Channel, now): In this Academy Award-winning movie, Philadelphia police detective Sidney Poitier is mistakenly suspected of a local murder while passing through a racially hostile Mississippi town, and after being cleared is reluctantly asked by the police chief to investigate the case.

🎥 Lilies of the Field (Amazon Prime / Pluto TV / Tubi, now): Travelling handyman Sidney Poitier becomes the answer to the prayers of nuns who wish to build a chapel in the desert. This is the movie that won him an Academy Award.

🎥 Mandela and de Klerk (Roku Channel, now): Sidney Poitier never won an Emmy, but he did garner two nominations, one of which was this Showtime movie. Poitier is Nelson Mandela, who is negotiationing with F.W. de Klerk (Michael Caine ) to end South African apartheid. It's a good movie.
