The US Supreme Court let the Texas abortion ban stand and allowed lawsuits brought by health clinics to move forward while shutting down the Justice Department case. Chief Justice Roberts is not happy about this but the other five justices are willing to throw out the law. [NPR] [NBC]
The House select committee on the insurrection has issued six more subpoenas. They don't seem to be slowing down. [Independent]
We stole Hawaii and kept it because it's in a useful position in the middle of nowhere in the Pacific Ocean. Since long before tourists it has been a place for ships to stop and resupply on their long crossings. This requires a petroleum supply but it has always required a water supply.
