Occasional cooks: cherry delight slice

Here is your weekly thread to talk anything and everything food.

Share what you're cooking this week, ask for tips or recipes for a dish, tell us about your meals out.

It's not intentional that I keep talking about slices, it's just the recipes that keep coming across my feeds... This week it's a cherry delight slice, a 'healthy' take on an Australian chocolate bar, the Cherry Ripe.

The ingredients in this may be natural and unprocessed, but that's still plenty of fat and sugar, so take 'healthy' with a grain of salt.

Here's some yummy-looking lemon and passionfruit mini cheesecakes from the same article.

Last week, I was all excited about the Christmas dessert recipe I found. Then, on the weekend, I tried to buy freeze-dried berries and edible dried rose petals - they are not, as the recipe suggested, available in the snack aisle of the supermarket. They are, however, available at great expensive from specialist cake stores... $200 a kilo, folks...

So instead I've been googling how to freeze dry or dry in the oven yourself, and experimenting at home. But I'm not sure the frozen raspberries I had on hand was the best place to start. We'll see how this goes. If you've ever done this, let me know your tips!

And I'm trying to find someone with a rose bush who is willing to give me a couple of blooms to dry out - that, at least, seems a little easier than drying fruit.
