The reviews are in on the live action Cowboy Bebop and... well... they're not great. I mean, they're not terrible, but they could have been better. I only started watching the original this week because I've heard how great it is for years and I figured if I want to watch the live action one I should probably watch the original first. I'm only a few episodes in and I'm enjoying it. The main question I have so far regarding the new series is this: isn't John Cho a little old to be playing Spike? I know Cho hasn't aged much in 20 years but it doesn't change the fact that original Spike is 27 and very much acts like it. I'm curious to see how Cho will make that work.
Elsewhere we've got a movie about Venus and Serena that's all about their dad for some reason, a Wheel of Time adaptation that is only getting slightly better reviews than Bebop, an Oasis concert documentary that I'm sure will appeal to someone somewhere and the usual glut of Netflix, Apple and Discovery+ movies, specials and series.
Oh, and Lifetime and Hallmark are still battling each other for Christmas supremacy, but this week Netflix and Discovery+ are entering the fray. Buckle up folks. The holiday holocaust is just getting started.
