What's On Tonight (Sunday): Oscar & Jessica could write a bad romance

Scenes from a Marriage

D'oh! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, October 10!

The Top Pick tonight is the finale of Scenes from a Marriage (HBO, 9 p.m.), the updated and Americanized remake of the quintessential Ingmar Bergman miniseries about a faltering marriage. I'm not quite caught up, but it is very much an actors' show. Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain lift the show, and can sell some of the shaky and sometimes hard-to-watch material.

Elsewhere, it's already Halloween in Animation Domination land, Evil embraces cannibalism, The CW seeks the Legends of the Hidden Temple, Princess Diana gets CNN docuseries treatment, 60 Minutes investigates deepfakes, a vampire lurks at Chapelwaite, we can Fear the Walking Dead again, The Equalizer can't leave the business, and Abby and Julia Sweeney are still a Work in Progress.

(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)

60 Minutes (CBS, 7 p.m.): The use of artificial intelligence to create deepfakes... At least 1,000 children taken from their parents at the U.S. border three years ago remain separated... Deep Springs College, which is probably a college.

Evil (Paramount+, 3 a.m.): SEASON FINALE. The team is sent to meet with Mitch Jasper, a student with a growing compulsion to eat human flesh. Oh, so this could grow into a backdoor revival for Hannibal.✔️

Fear the Walking Dead (AMC+, 3 a.m.): SEASON PREMIERE. While most of the landscape is destroyed by nuclear warheads, Strand thrives in one of the few inhabitable places left. Wait, nuclear warheads? I'm missed a lot.

πŸŽ₯ Love at Sky Gardens (UPtv, 7 p.m.): "When Deirdre accidentally spills coffee on regular customer and event planner, Deirdre offers to help him get back on track by lending her rooftop garden design services for his boss's next big event." I hate it already.

Call the Midwife (PBS, 8 p.m.): Sister Frances finds herself in a tricky situation when a pregnant woman confides in her. Trixie is troubled by her sudden admittance to the Lady Emily.

Chesapeake Shores (Hallmark Channel, 8 p.m.): Evan finds himself wondering if he has feelings for Abby. Luke is threatened with going back to prison.

The Equalizer (CBS, 8 p.m.): SEASON PREMIERE. Just as McCall considers quitting, she gets pulled back in. She is basically Michael Corleone.

The Great North (Fox, 8:30 p.m.): Moon, Judy, and Ham try to survive Alaska's darkest and spookiest day of the year. Meanwhile, Wolf and Honeybee attempt to replace Beef's favorite shirt.

Legends of the Hidden Temple (The CW, 8 p.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. The Nickelodeon kids show lives! "Teams embark on a cheesy temple tour only to discover the legends behind it are real. They must navigate a series of booby-trapped rooms to lift the temple's curse and escape with their lives." I remember waking up at 6 a.m. on Saturdays to watch reruns on Nick when I was in grade school.✔️

πŸŽ₯ List of a Lifetime (Lifetime, 8 p.m.): "Facing her own mortality, a terminally ill woman reunites with the daughter she gave up for adoption as an infant. Together, they set out to accomplish everything on their bucket list -- no matter how wild." It sounds like a happy-ish movie. Or it starts that way before becoming a movie about murder and revenge.

Renovation, Inc.: Home Sweet Home (HGTV, 8 p.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. Another Renovation spinoff.

The Simpsons (Fox, 8 p.m.): It's Halloween!(??) This year's "Treehouse" tradition includes Bong Joon-ho's Parasite, Bambi's revenge and much, much more.

BRIEFLY90 Day FiancΓ©: The Other Way (TLC); Alaskan Bush People (Discovery Channel); The Circus (Showtime); The Real Housewives of Potomac (Bravo); Vets on the Beach (Nat Geo Wild)

πŸ•˜ 9 P.M. EASTERN / πŸ•— 8 P.M. CENTRAL

Bob's Burgers (Fox, 9 p.m.): When a mysterious note is sent to Linda on Halloween, she and Gayle must travel to their hometown to face a wrong they committed 27 years ago.

Buried (Showtime, 9 p.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. In 1969, 8-year-old Susan Nason is murdered, and the case goes unsolved for nearly 20 years, until Nason's friend Eileen Franklin suddenly remembers she witnessed the crime and the murderer was her own father.✔️

Chapelwaite (Epix, 9 p.m.): Overwhelmed with madness, Charles is driven to the church cemetery where he unearths a hidden book. But once in his hands, he has an apocalyptic vision of the vampire future.

Family Guy (Fox, 9:30 p.m.): Quagmire meets an avid dog lover, and pretends Brian is his dog in an attempt to win her over. Chris helps Stewie track down the culprit who stole his Halloween candy.

Grantchester (PBS, 9 p.m.): Will and Geordie negotiate a complex family dispute that may have something to do with the murder of the head of a local adoption agency.

Heels (Starz, 9 p.m.): SEASON FINALE. The culmination of all Jack's efforts finally pays off as the DWL is featured on the biggest stage in its history, but also, there's a lot more on the line than just the championship belt.

NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS, 9 p.m.): SEASON PREMIERE. Callen suspects Hetty of keeping secrets about his past. NCIS must track down an informant whose life is in danger. And "Kensi and Deeks work to expand their family," which sounds very sexual and something for pay television.

⭐ Scenes from a Marriage (HBO, 9 p.m.): SERIES FINALE. "Mira and Jonathan reassess their love story." HBO keeps it short and sweet even for shows that never had sizeable attention. I assume this will be a series finale. I can't imagine a second season, even as an anthology. But I guess you never know with the new guard at HBO.

πŸŽ₯ The Vows We Keep (Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, 9 p.m.): An event planner must organize the perfect wedding for her sister in less than a month when she finds out the Rosewood, a historic inn and adored wedding venue, is being sold.

The Walking Dead (AMC, 9 p.m.): Fall finale. The Reapers defend Meridian from an incoming herd. Pope suspects Maggie is behind the attack, while Daryl treads carefully. Alexandrians scramble to protect themselves when a violent storm leaves them vulnerable to walkers.

Fiasco (Epix, 10 p.m.): In a desperate attempt to free American hostages being held in Lebanon, Reagan's cabinet strikes an illegal weapons-for-hostages deal with an Iranian arms merchant. The proceeds are funneled to pay for the Nicaraguan civil war.

The Rookie (ABC, 10 p.m.): Officers Nolan and Chen report to a structure fire and suspect that there is more to the situation than meets the eye. After a sniper shooting, the team searches for the shooter, only to discover that the perpetrator has a connection to one of its own. This makes it personal!

SEAL Team (CBS, 10 p.m.): SEASON PREMIERE. Everyone on the team is shocked — shocked — when they learn a training exercise is really cover for a covert mission to get a weapons expert out of one of the most dangerous countries in the world.✔️

The Walking Dead: World Beyond (AMC, 10 p.m.): "While some members of the group enact a plan to cover their tracks, others attempt to acclimate to their new surroundings."

When Big Things Go Wrong (History, 10 p.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. The title pretty much explains the synopsis. The first episode explores the collapse of the I-35 bridge in Minneapolis.
