What's On Tonight (Thursday): I'm Goin' to Shondaland!

via Giphy

The gradual roll out of new Thursday programming continues with ABC's trio. Grey's Anatomy, returning for its 18th season, is flanked by the fifth season of Station 19 and the second season of Big Sky. Still to come: (most of) CBS-CBS-CBS!

Let's see what else TV has to offer us for Thursday, Sept. 30. All times are EST.

STREAMING
The Problem With Jon Stewart, 12:01 a.m., Apple TV+. Premiere. A biweekly "multiple-season, single-issue series, taking a deep dive on the issues affecting us most. ... Stewart will be in conversation with the people who are impacted by the issue - as well as those who have a hand in creating the impact. Together, they will discuss a more productive path towards action." Comes with a podcast.

The Premise, 12:01 a.m., FX on Hulu. "The Commenter." "A young woman (Lola Kirke) with a happy life and loving partner (Soko) becomes obsessed with a critical anonymous comment online, eventually upending her life in a quest for the commenter's approval."

Good Grief, 3:01 a.m., Sundance Now. Premiere. American debut of a New Zealand sitcom. "Follows two millennial sisters with very different personalities who inherit a funeral home from their grandfather. Unsure what to do with the funeral home - or the oddball staff that keep the place running - Ellie and Gwen Goode (Eve and Grace Palmer) are thrust into a world of embalming, emceeing, and embarrassment." Well, I'll give them credit. It's not entirely like Good Grief, the 1990 Fox sitcom starring Howie Mandel. Six episodes available; the show has already been renewed for a second season.

The Way Down, 3:01 a.m., HBO Max. Premiere. The first half of a documentary on "God, Greed and the Cult of Gwen Shamblin." "After rising to fame with her Weigh Down Workshop, a Christian-based diet program that preached slenderness as next to godliness, Gwen Shamblin Lara founded the Tennessee-based church. Despite a carefully curated image, Lara and the church soon fielded accusations of emotional, psychological, and physical abuse, and exploitation for their alleged cult-like practices." Three episodes available.

Ten Year Old Tom, 3:01 a.m., HBO Max. Premiere. "A bitingly-funny 10 episode adult animated comedy series," starring writer-creator Steve Dildarian as the boy protagonist. Ten episodes available.
