| Vacation Friends |
Compared to last week, when we saw a plethora of Top Pick contenders, this week comes off as a bit... underwhelming. There's stuff to watch but not much that piques my interest. I settled on Vacation Friends mainly because it has a great cast and I got some laughs out of the trailer. It looks stupid and fun and that's about all I need these days.
Elsewhere we've got a Rupi Kaur special on Amazon, and if you know who she is then you are more culturally literate than I am. Jason Momoa, who starred in a Netflix movie last week, is on Apple TV+ this week with the second season of See and will probably show up on yet another streamer next week (the guy never stops working). Meanwhile pen15 has an animated summer vacation special, Pete the Cat has a back to school special, and Netflix has a gender-flipped 22-year-later sequel to She's All That centering around the teenage daughter of Rachel Leigh Cook's character from the first film because that's what we've all been clamoring for. Cook and Matthew Lillard both reprise their roles from the original.
Finally LMN has yet another original movie with the promising title, Death in the Spotlight. Coulda been Top Pick, shoulda been Top Pick, woulda been Top Pick but Lifetime still refuses to release trailers for these things. What's it going to take, Lifetime? Do you want flowers? Candy? A nice night out on the town? I want to be the good boyfriend here but I'm not a mind reader.
