What's On Tonight (Saturday): A human-free, Untamed existence

Eden: Untamed Planet

Hey, puddin'! Here's what's on television for tonight, Saturday, August 7!

Tonight's Top Pick is the latest BBC nature series to arrive stateside: Eden: Untamed Planet (BBC America, 8 p.m.). The show visits a different remote region every week and gives us an in depth look at its unique wildlife. Even as a nature documentary junkie, I'm learning stuff every week, and the series is gorgeously shot. I really enjoy Helena Bonham Carter's narration, too.

Elsewhere, Harley Quinn goes to bat for Adult Swim, global sportsballs are almost done, a killer is like a Storm Chaser, Dylan wants new shoes, Decades loves Lucy, Harry Shum Jr. gets cancer, and Time Tunnel meets President Lincoln.

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

πŸ“Ί The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour (Decades, 6 p.m.): Spend the weekend with the queen of sitcoms, Lucille Ball. Saturday will air the 13 Comedy Hour episodes (some will air twice) while Sunday will feature The Lucy Show and I Love Lucy. In this episode, the Lucy-verse converges with The Danny Thomas Show in an early TV crossover as the Williams family rents the Ricardo house while they are supposed to be away. The Ricardos don't want to make room for Danny.✔️

BRIEFLYThe Globe (Discovery+, 3 a.m., season finale); Heartbreak Island (Discovery+, 3 a.m., season two)

πŸ•— 8:00 EASTERN / πŸ•– 7:00 CENTRAL

πŸŽ₯ All My Life (HBO, 8 p.m.): A couple's (Jessica Rothe, Harry Shum Jr.) wedding plans are thrown off course when the groom is diagnosed with liver cancer.

⭐ Eden: Untamed Planet (BBC America, 8 p.m.): At the very end of East Africa's Great Rift Valley, there's a "land that time forgot."

πŸŽ₯ Psycho Storm Chaser (Lifetime, 8 p.m.): A nurse tending to a housebound coma patient is forced to stay behind to care for her during a massive hurricane. This puts her in the path of Dr. Carl Highstrom, a storm-chasing serial killer who uses storms to cover up his crimes. This was almost Top Pick because it is so ridiculous sounding.

Young Dylan (Nickelodeon, 8 p.m.): Myles joins Dylan in camping out overnight for a chance to appear in a music video and score new sneakers, but a series of mishaps threatens Dylan's ability to actually get the shoes.

NOTICES:
2021 Olympic Summer Games (NBCUniversal networks): Marathon, track and field, diving, basketball, soccer, handball, water polo, volleyball

BRIEFLYAccident, Suicide or Murder (Oxygen); πŸ’² Nickelodeon's Unfiltered (Nickelodeon, 8:30 p.m.); Say Yes to the Dress (TLC); Vacation House Rules (HGTV)

πŸ•˜ 9:00 EASTERN / πŸ•— 8:00 CENTRAL

πŸŽ₯ The 27-Hour Day (Hallmark Channel, 9 p.m.): A Hallmark woman gets a hold of a time turner and leads the world into the darkest timeline. But at least she will find love.

πŸŽ₯ The Bunker Boom: Better Safe Than Sorry (CNN, 9 p.m.): Cameras follow middle-class families living in converted bunkers in a South Dakota neighborhood, with information from the community of preppers on what they seek to avoid.

πŸŽ₯ Lessons From the Water: Diving with a Purpose (CNN, 9:30 p.m.): Diving With a Purpose, an organization founded by Black scuba divers, restores nearly 500 voyages shipwrecked during the slave trade. This intergenerational journey explores the search for identity and a bond from a shared mission.

πŸŽ₯ No Man's Land (Showtime, 9 p.m.): When a vigilante border patrol turns fatal, a man flees on horseback to Mexico, seeking forgiveness from the victim's father. This movie was not well-received.

This Weekend in Pop Culture (WOT&Pop Culture, 9:30 p.m.): What pop culture have you consumed lately?

BRIEFLYDestination Fear (Travel Channel); The Incredible Dr. Pol (Nat Geo Wild); Love & Marriage (OWN)

πŸ•™ 10:00 EASTERN / πŸ•˜ 9:00 CENTRAL

Harley Quinn (Adult Swim, 10:30 p.m.): Toonami's anime shows take the week off for an airing of the complete first season of DC-now-HBO Max's fantastic animated show Harley Quinn. The superhero/antihero uber-adult comedy follows the sidekick villain's split from The Joker and journey to carve her own path in Gotham alongside her new BFF Poison Ivy and other housemates (Clayface, King Shark, Doctor Psycho, Frank the Plant, Sy Borgman). The story and voice casting are top notch. Now... how much will Adult Swim censor? IIRC, the censorship during the Syfy airing was negligible.✔️

BRIEFLYFamily or FiancΓ© (OWN); Hatcher Family Dairy (Nat Geo Wild)
Harley Quinn

πŸ“Ί The Rookies (Heroes & Icons, 2 a.m.): The Rookies must contend with "The Teacher," an ex-convict who masterminds several well-executed robberies using young boys who are in the city looking for excitement.

πŸ“Ί That Girl (Antenna TV, 11 p.m.): "Ann innocently unloads defective shipment of footwear."

πŸ“Ί The Time Tunnel (MeTV, 3 a.m.): In 1861, Tony and Doug are involved in a plot to assassinate President-elect Abraham Lincoln. This show sucks.
