What's On Tonight (Wednesday): I was tossin' and turnin' all night

Awake

[*alarm clock loudly chimes*] Here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, June 9!

Tonight's Top Pick is Netflix's latest movie, Awake. (No, it's not related to the one-season wonder. Sorry.) When a disaster strikes Earth, electronics become defunct and no one can sleep. The human body needs to sleep, and without sleep, paranoia will set in. Yikes. But there is one hope: young Ariana Greenblatt, who you might remember as the tea-time loving youngster on Stuck in the Middle or the sharp-tongued kid in Love and Monsters. She's also in In the Heights.

Elsewhere, Loki returns(?), Viceland investigates the NCAA, Sistas are together again, A Million Little Things finishes its season, The Bold Type faces performance reviews, Netflix searches for fried foods, Peacock does Dogs, MasterChef invites Curtis Stone, CMT presents awards, and BET assembles a supergroup.

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

⭐πŸŽ₯ Awake (Netflix, 3 a.m.): After a devastating global event wipes out all electronics and eliminated people's ability to sleep, a former soldier may have found a solution with her daughter. The movie stars Ariana Greenblatt, who can sleep, Gina Rodriguez, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.✔️

Fresh, Fried & Crispy (Netflix, 3 a.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. Daym Drops visits America's smoking hot spots for the best, freshest takes on fried food.

The Handmaid's Tale (Hulu, midnight): Serena and Fred greet unexpected visitors from Gilead. Aunt Lydia deals with a hunger strike at the Red Center.

πŸ’² Jeopardy! (Syndicated, check local listings): Three more days with Mayim Bialik. Stop all your fussin'!
Slap on a smile!

Loki (Disney+, 3 a.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. "The mercurial villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) resumes his role as the God of Mischief in a new series that takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame." Owen Wilson attempts to help him find his way. Also, yay for another streamer doing Wednesday episodes!✔️

Occasional Cooks (What's On Tonight & Pop Culture, 7 p.m.): What have you been making in your kitchen lately? Want some inspiration? Check out our weekly food thread!

πŸŽ₯ Tragic Jungle (Netflix, 3 a.m.): In this Mexican flick, to escape an arranged marriage, a woman flees into the depths of the Mayan jungle, where untamed nature merges the human and the supernatural.
