Kung Fu |
Hello, grasshoppers! Here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, April 28!
The pickings are slim tonight, but The CW dares to defy with tonight's Top Pick, the quasi-remake Kung Fu. While it shares the name of the David Carradine cult classic and has some similarities, it is very much its own thing -- a la Riverdale, Walker, and Nancy Drew. The show, which has a predominantly Asian-American cast, still has a student (Olivia Liang) see her mentor (Vanessa Kai) murdered but she doesn't get vengeance. Rather, she returns to reconnect with her family and help those in need in her San Francisco neighborhood. The show would be a lot better if the underground-hero-with-lots-of-family-drama clichΓ©s weren't turned up to the nth degree.
Elsewhere, POTUS talks to legislative branch, the Handmaid returns, Smithsonian goes to the border, Netflix gets Sexify'd, and Jimmy Kimmel figures out how to be even more horrible.
