What's On Tonight (Sunday): The Gallaghers live the downside that you speak of

Shameless

Oh, Judas! You again?! Fuck. Every Sunday you come to me wanting to know what is on the idiot box. Yet I give you all the citations at the bottom of every entry so you could do this yourself but nope. You crawl back to me like clockwork. Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, April 11!

Tonight we say goodbye to the Gallaghers, America's favorite family struggling to keep their head above water, after 11 seasons. The family has changed plenty. Fiona left for greener pastures, Lip has a kid and a steady (well-to-do) girlfriend, Ian and Mickey have attempted to settle down, Liam has been  unleashing his smarts (unlike Lip), and single mom Debbie is largely managing the Fiona-less household. And of course there's Frank, their mostly-absent and drug addicted dad who is a despicable human being with largely no redeeming value. Like many Showtime shows, it has been on for too long, but I've quite enjoyed its run. Even the Fiona-less seasons aren't terrible and the show has done a good job letting Carl and Debbie go from kids to young adults -- the latter gets too bad of a rap. My pick for the best season: 7.

Elsewhere, the BAFTAs are here, Victorian women are Never not supernatural, The Great North debates Bigfoot, Black Mask isn't the only one causing problems in Gotham, Zoey has an Extraordinary glitch, Mr. Burns gets into plant-based burgers, Bob's Burgers sneaks food into theaters (what are those?), NBC News does a deep dive into the Jan. 6 insurrection, Sam and Graham finish their Roadtrip, and Alfred Pennyworth must stop Project Stormcloud.

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

🕗 EASTERN / 🕖 CENTRAL

Batwoman (The CW, 8 p.m.): As Batwoman focuses on taking down Black Mask, a new foe emerges, diverting the team's attention to a distressing issue in Gotham. Jacob travels down a dangerous path.

🎥 Beware of the Midwife (Lifetime, 8 p.m.): On Lifetime, you don't call the midwife, you must beware of them.

Crossword Mysteries: Riddle Me Dead (Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, 8 p.m.): A woman is invited to be on a popular game show where the host is unexpectedly murdered. The host was probably an inferior and stunt programming-infused guest host.

Dwight in Shining Armor (BYUtv, 8:30 p.m.): Brodogg drops by Gretta's house unexpectedly and with a newfound interest in becoming a court magician. Baldric agrees to train Brodogg. At the same time, Dwight and Gretta are at the mercy of their RealBaby parental training dolls for a school project.

The Gloaming (Starz, 8 p.m.): Freddie puts Lily's life in danger and Molly must race to save her. Constable Freya works on a tip.

Saints & Sinners (Bounce TV, 9 p.m.): SEASON PREMIERE. Malik’s murder rocks Cypress as Ella fights to clear her name and key players vie for power.

⭐ Shameless (Showtime, 9 p.m.): SERIES FINALE. Ian and Mickey shop for furniture. Kev and V seek buyers for the Alibi. While Lip settles for a new job, Carl finds his calling on the force. Debbie plunges into a dangerous world when she meets someone. Frank faces his mortality. I've spent the past several months (re-)watching the show but haven't yet started on this final season. Over the course of the entire series, Ian has the most satisfying arc with his coming out and relationship journeys alongside being bipolar, though that Gay Jesus story was too much. Carl is my pick for pleasant surprise. He is not in much of the early seasons, but the show really lets him grow up nicely (sure, there are bad spots, like his drug dealing or Kassidi days) and mature. Too often, the plots just end or are dropped, especially for Kev and V. Remember when Kev met his birth family?! Or V's mom also had Kev's baby?! I have this grudge against other Showtime shows, too.✔️

When Calls the Heart (Hallmark Channel, 9 p.m.): Elizabeth focuses on teaching Angela how to read braille. Rosemary and Lee struggle to give Rachel the freedom she was promised. Bill feels displaced when he's asked to return his Mountie uniform.
