TOP PICK
American Experience: The Blinding Of Isaac Woodard (PBS, 9:00 PM) In 1946, decorated World War II veteran Isaac Woodard was brutally beaten by police in South Carolina - for responding to them with 'yes' instead of 'yes, sir' - and left permanently blinded. The outrage at the attack went all the way up to the highest office in the land; as a result, Harry Truman would prioritize the civil rights movement with several initiatives, speeches and directives - including ordering the military to desegregate. 'The event also ultimately set the stage for the Supreme Court’s landmark 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision, which finally outlawed segregation in public schools and jumpstarted the modern civil rights movement.'
