THURSDAY: Better Call Saul sorta wins an Emmy with its short form, half-animated spinoff.
TUESDAY: In full repeat mode, Saturday Night Live wins its fourth straight, Live in Front of a Studio Audience wins its second straight, and Carpool Karaoke its third straight Program Emmy. The Variety Talk Show category is the only Variety category announced in the primetime ceremony.

PERFORMANCES
SATURDAY: Like 2017, Saturday Night Live swept the two guest comedy acting categories. Fifth time was the charm for Eddie Murphy. He was nominated 3 other times for his work on SNL. Maya Rudolph wins her second Emmy of the year and ever. The guest spot was for a brief appearance as Kamala Harris. In guest drama, Ron Cephas Jones wins his second Emmy, and Cherry Jones wins her third. RuPaul is now five-in-a-row as host.
THURSDAY: Newcomer Quibi dominated most of the short form categories and with Antoine Fuqua's #FreeRayshawn, the new streamer swept the two acting categories. Acting in a Quibi series accounted for 8 of the 10 acting nominations.
MONDAY: David Attenborough three-peats. He won last year for Our Planet and in 2018 for Blue Planet II. I thought the biggest of-interest piece about the category was that the other four nominees are Black -- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Angela Bassett, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Lupita Nyong'o.
Guest Actor, Comedy Series: Eddie Murphy, Saturday Night Live ("Host: Eddie Murphy")
Guest Actress, Comedy Series: Maya Rudolph, Saturday Night Live ("Host: Eddie Murphy")

Host for a Reality or Competition Program: RuPaul, RuPaul's Drag Race
Narrator: David Attenborough, Seven Worlds, One Planet, "Antarctica"
ANIMATION
SATURDAY: I guess the Academy likes Rick and Morty. This is the show's second win and second nomination in the category.
THURSDAY: Maya Rudolph wins an Emmy! After four years of Family Guy actors and two year other years of The Simpsons, the Character Voice-Over category finally shifts away from Fox programs. The episode of Toy Story 4 spinoff Forky Asks a Question featured voices of Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks, Carol Burnett, and Betty White. The Individual Achievement winners, which is a juried award, were announced.
Program: Rick and Morty, "The Vat of Acid Episode"
Short Form: Forky Asks a Question, "What Is Love?"
Character Voice-Over: Maya Rudolph, Big Mouth ("How to Have an Orgasm")
Individual Achievement: Jill Dykxhoorn, Archer ("Road Trip); Dan MacKenzie, Cosmos: Possible Worlds ("Vavilov"); Genndy Tartakovsky, Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal ("Spear and Fang"); Scott Wills, Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal ("Spear and Fang"); Stephen DeStefano, Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal ("A Cold Death")
CASTING
SATURDAY: Of course Watchmen was a Limited Series frontrunner before the Creative Arts Emmys. This win cements it even more.
THURSDAY: Last year's casting in Comedy Series and Drama Series went on to win overall program. In fact, that's been true for Comedy Series Casting for the last 5 years. Drama Series has an iffy-er history, but the Editing win on Wednesday night certainly perks up Succession's odds.
MONDAY: Queer Eye doesn't three-peat. This is the first casting win for RuPaul and the fourth year for the Reality Program category.
Comedy Series: Schitt's Creek
Drama Series: Succession
Limited Series, Movie or Special: Watchmen
Reality Program: RuPaul's Drag Race
CHOREOGRAPHY
THURSDAY: The Scripted Programming award is a juried award. The winner was announced a few weeks ago.

CINEMATOGRAPHY
SATURDAY: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel repeats.
WEDNESDAY: The Ranch was a cinematography stronghold in the multi-cam arena. In its four years of eligibility, it won a cinematography Emmy three times. The half-hour single-camera category remains consistent in a new winner every year.
MONDAY: Life Below Zero three-peats and has now won four out of the last five years.
Multi-Camera Series: The Ranch, "It Ain’t My Fault"

DIRECTING
SATURDAY: That's two years in a row that Variety Special Directing goes to a non-live program, which is a change from the prior years.
TUESDAY: It's always wise to vote for a live program. This is the fourth straight win and 11th overall for Don Roy King's directing of Saturday Night Live.
Variety Series: Saturday Night Live, "Host: Eddie Murphy"
Variety Special: Dave Chappelle: Sticks & Stones
Documentary/Nonfiction Program: American FactoryReality Program: Cheer, "Daytona"
EDITING
SATURDAY: Insecure pulls off a good win here given Schitt's Creek is a general frontrunner and that usually bodes well for Editing.
WEDNESDAY: Did Succession and Watchmen's chances at the program Emmy increase with their Editing wins? Unlike the Oscars, Editing isn't the gauging category in seeing what will win the series awards at the big ceremony. That would be Casting, but Editing can be a good early indicator, though in a normal year, Casting and Editing are handed out on the same night. Last year, the Drama Series and Single-Camera Comedy Series Editing categories were the program winners, and same was true for comedy series the year prior. From 2012 to 2016, Drama Series Editing lined up with the the Drama Series winner — Casting didn't. However, from 2011 to 2017, the comedy editing categories and Comedy Series winner never aligned. Limited Series/TV Movie Editing has never been a sure thing, but it is correct more than 50% of the time. So, to answer the original question: Maybe. Also... One Day at a Time repeats
TUESDAY: This makes five in a row for Last Week Tonight's editing.
MONDAY: After two years without a win, RuPaul's Drag Race gets a win. Cheer wins the Unstructured category with frequent winner United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell not in the running.
