What's On Tonight (Wednesday): 12 oz. Mouse has an animation budget

12 oz. Mouse
Yo! It's hump day (for those still keeping track of days of the week), and whew, the Wednesday TV options are starting to dwindle. To fill the Top Pick this week, I look toward Adult Swim. This week and next, Adult Swim's experimental 12 oz. Mouse is back 14 years after its second season ended. The odd espionage thriller was always a minimalist in its animation both in its characters and especially in its set designs. The new season sticks to it in most characters, but the overall look of the show has been elevated -- but not too much. Plus season two ended with a big reveal as our star Mouse Fitzgerald discovered some truths about his reality... but many key points were uncertain. Is this reality just an allusion? Fitz wants to find out. He also likes to fire guns and drink beer.

Elsewhere, Comedy Central's dark satire Corporate joins fellow Wednesday-ians The 100 (which is on break tonight) and Agents of SHIELD with a final season run. Also, White House soap The Oval and CBS' Game On! conclude their freshmen seasons, SharkFest 2020 continues, the latest Challenge cast reunites, Amy Sedaris seeks out inspiration, and BET hosts a special about police reform.

And so Doctor Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, striving to put right what once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap... will be here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, July 22!

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia (Netflix, 3 a.m.): COMPLETE SERIES. "Five Mafia families ruled New York with a bloody fist in the 1970s and '80s, until a group of federal agents tried the unthinkable: taking them down." Well, not the Corleone family. They went to Las Vegas. ✔️

Signs (Netflix, 3 a.m.): SEASON ONE. A Polish import about a murder that looks a lot like an unsolved decades-old murder case. Hmmm.

The Challenge (MTV, 8 p.m.): SPECIAL. I'm pulling this out because it's what LaFergs would want. Heck, she'd make it the Top Pick. "The challengers reunite virtually for the first time since the finale to break down the strategy, expose the snakes, and address the madness from Season 35." I miss LaFergs.✔️

Living Single πŸ“Ί (MTV 2, 8 p.m.): In the season two premiere of this underappreciated hangout comedy, Maxine and Kyle (Erika Alexander, T.C. Carson) spend the night together after drowning their sorrows in a bottle of tequila.

The premiere aired as part of Adult Swim's surprise April Fools Day lineup.✔️
