What's On Tonight (Thursday): "Council" On My Wayward Son And "Warrior Nun" Prepares for Battle

Via Giphy

Hi Everybody. Tonight Top Pick Goes To (pulls name out of hat) Council Of Dads!!! Tonight this newly cancelled summer replacement show that was clearly made with the intention of being another This Is Us type of melodrama for NBC but went bust right out of the starting gate (I think its premiere episode which followed a new episode of This Is Us lost like 75% of that show's audience???) Anyways The Dads as I like to call 'em...is running their last filmed episode tonight I guess they're taking their sage advice with them out the door because the show was literally cancelled by NBC last week. (Hey they should've called it Cancellation Of Dads--that wouldn't have made any sense tho) This Is What's On Tonight for July 2nd 2020

Streaming

Warrior Nun (Netflix): My alternate Top Pick tonight-- "A young woman wakes up in a morgue with inexplicable powers and gets caught up in a battle between good and evil" Fans of the gleefully convoluted Syfy drama "Continuum" will wanna take note of this one as it is created and exec produced by the same guy behind that one. (Simon Barry) (I quite enjoyed watching Continuum continually tie itself up in knots--i thought it was pretty entertaining sci-fi and if this is on or near that show's level....I might actually watch this one you guys!!!!)

Blinded (Sundance Now):  8 part mini-series about intrigue and deception at a once respected Swedish bank. (Ahhh...I see...financial chicanery eyyy???)

The Bureau (Sundance Now): Also back for its 5th season (although it looks to have premiered last week as this is episode number 3) is this foreign language espionage show (I believe its French) I binged the first two seasons of it when it was available on demand about two summers back and liked it quite a bit--i did not know they were all the way on their 5th season already tho! (I do like how writing these ends up informing myself as much as you guys on what's actually on!)

Broadcast

Young Sheldon (CBS): Rerun of that time the local university offered George Sr. a lucrative job offer as the football coach there but only because they're hoping to secure Sheldon's enrollment when the time comes for him to pick a college; Meanwhile Mary tries to rid her house of greed (which isn't so easy seeing as how her mother loves to gamble)

Council of Dads (NBC): Top Pick of the night goes to this now cancelled attempt at prestige drama with "Anthony arriving at the Perry home only to find Robin and Theo in peril; Oliver puts his medical skills to work when Sage goes into early labor; the future of the Crab Shack hangs in the balance; and the Perry family grapples with news about Luly" (Yes Say Goodbye to the Wit and Wisdom of these Dads while you can) (Solemn, meaningful glances are exchanged)

Holey Moley (ABC): In what looks to be a rerun of their summer premiere from last month, this show has someone literally jumping a shark, zip-line mishaps, and windmill putting mistakes. (nods)

Celeb Watch Party (FOX): In what also looks to be a rerun, this show has people watching stuff on Father's Day.

Burden of Truth (The CW): Coming off their loss of class certification (Nooo!!!!), Joanna and Billy decide to go after Clear Dawn on their own with an unreliable whistleblower as their only lead; Luna goes to extreme lengths to save another child from a wrongful apprehension. (Maybe this should've been Top Pick?? It sounds action packed!)

Treasure Island with Bear Grylls (Discovery): "Boiling Point"

A Valentine's Day Match (Hallmark Channel): Bethany Joy Lenz and Luke McFarlane--i think i typed this one up already once???

8:30

The Unicorn (CBS): Rerun from January that has Wade wanting to move things forward with his current girlfriend but isn't so sure that his kids will approve (why not? she seems nice!); Delia, Grace, and Natalie all share memories of Jill as they prepare to sell off her belongings at a garage sale. (Ah, so memories get stirred up, that's not gonna be too good for Wade here is it?)

9:00

Mom (CBS): Rerun of the show's season premiere where Bonnie goes on her honeymoon with Adam and struggles to enjoy anything (her psychiatrist would say something like "You don't wanna enjoy anything because subconsciously you don't think you deserve to enjoy anything") Meanwhile Christy is looking after Adam's bar and ends up making a few changes to it. (Ruh-Roh) (CBS is really getting the worth of the money they are paying to Warner Bros for the rights to run both this and Young Sheldon because this is the third time this episode is being rerun and the same goes for tonight's Young Sheldon ep as well)

Blindspot (NBC): The season continues right along with an episode titled "Ghost Train" "The team scrambles to get ahead of Madeline and Ivy as they close in on the bunker's location, but someone on the inside is feeding Madeline's info as her plan takes shape; the team may be forced to take desperate measures." (Aren't they always taking desperate measures tho???)

Don't (ABC): Also in rerun mode tonight is this show as ABC reruns the premiere of this show (titled "Don't Be A Wiseguy") tonight and it was first broadcast literally three weeks ago! (That's fast!)

Labor of Love (FOX): The male contestants must survive a weekend in the woods without any creature comforts. (What that has to do with being a good dad which was supposed to be the premise of this show is anybody's guess!) (Being a good dad doesn't necessarily mean knowing what to do should you get lost in the woods right?)

In The Dark (The CW): We're getting close to the end of the 2nd season of this one, as tonight is the second to last episode (Man this season went fast--also I guess that means it'll be next week's Top Pick!) "With Nia's entire shipment missing and the Guiding Hope crew under the gun to deliver it; Murphy, Jess, Felix and Max will stop at nothing to sniff out the stash; Dean meanwhile has his own plans for the misplaced goods; and Gene uncovers some shocking info. (Who's Gene again??? Is that Dean's new partner played by the goofy doorman from 9JKL???)  (The episode's title btw for those who care is "Where Have You Ben?" which I like!)

Mountain Men (History): Jake tracks down a dangerous mother lion; Kidd and Harry are menaced by a pack of coyotes. (Ohh Noo!!!!)

Restaurant Impossible (Food):

Naked and Afraid (Discovery): "Sunstroke of Bad Luck"---survivors try to survive in Namibia, and an island off the coast of Malda.

Gomer Pyle (MeTV): Carter challenges the retired boxing champion to a fight. (Why would you do that Sgt. Carter?!?!?!?)

9:30

Mom (CBS): Show gets an extra rerun tonight now that Broke has done run outta episodes and so CBS needs to fill the timeslot with something. Do not know what ep they'll be rerunning here tho if i had to guess it would be the 2nd episode of the season since it'll be following a rerun of the first episode of the season???

Green Acres (MeTV): Lisa's mother comes for a 3 week visit to the farm, and Oliver is driven nuts by this. (Shocking I know!)

10:00

NCIS LA (CBS): Also being rerun here on a special night and time because CBS couldn't keep running reruns of SWAT here indefinitely I guess???? I dunno.

Law and Order Special Victims Unit (NBC): Rerun from January that is about "A woman puts her allegations against a popular star athlete on a billboard after the case against him goes nowhere" (Gee I wonder what movie inspired this plotline!) (The episode is titled "She Paints For Vengeance" which wouldn't be a bad title for a 50's B movie!)

To Tell the Truth (ABC): Also in rerun mode tonight, tho they're rebroadcasting an episode from last summer--tonight's panel has Oliver Hudson, Justin Long, Snoop Dogg, and Amanda Seales.

The Bold Type (Freeform): "The Truth Shall Set You Free" (nods)

Impractical Jokers (Tru TV): Dinner Party Show 6--and fans get to vote on 2 dishes served up to the Jokers in tonight's episode. (Oooh interactivity!)

Undercover Chef (Food): NEW Series Premiere which is pretty much summed up by its title--its kinda like Undercover Boss except its a chef who doesn't own the restaurant---tonight a chef goes to work at a place called "Nauti Fish" (Naughty Fish???) and the chef tries to figure out what specific thing isn't working in that restaurant. (I don't know if this is sustainable as a premise, I mean  I know the manager and the owner of a restaurant aren't always the same person, but wouldn't they both know why their restaurant wasn't working???)

Alone (Discovery):  A sudden illness attacks one contestant while another is tormented by a tiny invader. (The episode title for this is "The Fly" so i think i can guess what that tiny invader is)

10:30

The Misery Index (TBS): Episode is titled "I Once Had A Body Like That Too" (Awwww)

ENJOY THE TV OFFERINGS YOU GUYS!!!! COUNCIL ON MY WAYWARD SONNNN....GET IT? GET IT? CAUSE CARRY ON MY WARYWARD--COUNCIL ON MY WAYWARD SON--AHH YOU GUYS GET IT!
