Mid-Year-in-Review: Best TV programs of 2020, so far

Star Wars: The Clone Wars / What We Do in the Shadows / Schitt's Creek / Insecure / Better Call Saul

Welcome to the What's On Tonight & Pop Culture thread for your best TV programs of 2020 so far.

The industry shutdown caused shorter seasons and a good skirmish in scheduling for the last couple months, but unlike movies, the stream of new TV programs hasn't slowed down too much.

In 2020, we saw the final few Good Place, Empire, and Arrow episodes, the final seasons of HomelandSchitt's CreekBoJack Horseman, Brockmire, and Strike Back, a handful of above-average short-lived wonders -- VidaSchooled, Party of Five, -- and the abrupt cancellations of Cops and Live PD, among others. HBO Max and Quibi are now a thing, too.

There were plenty of limited series (DevsLittle Fires EverywhereMrs. America, The Plot Against America) and a few TV movies and specials (Bad EducationUnbreakable Kimmy SchmidtThe Clark Sisters), and several documentary options (The Witnesses, Surviving R. Kelly Part 2, Asian Americans, Slow Burn, The Gene: An Intimate History). And really... all that is only scratching the surface.

What are the best TV programs you've seen in 2020?

Batwoman / Saturday Night Live / The Good Place / Everything's Gonna Be Okay / Mixed-ish
