What's On Tonight (Sunday): Laugh and learn about the United Shades of America

United Shades of America
Greeting to all you TV folks! Tonight, CNN's Emmy-winning United Shades of America, hosted by comedian W. Kamau Bell, returns with a supersize episode after a long break for its fifth season, and it is kicking off with a definitely timely topic it has already tackled before: white supremacy. The docuseries has covered an assortment of always in-the-news topics over its run, including immigration, Native Americans, Sikhs, gun control, Puerto Rico, HBCUs, and policing. White supremacy was the topic of the first episode ("The New KKK") back in 2016. If you want to escape the world we are in today, Bell's show probably isn't a good fit, but he makes every subject accessible, educational, and often moving. And because he is a comedian, he can make both you and the interviewees laugh -- allowing several people to really open up to him. This is an excellent series to learn about the diversity of our country and see where and why deeply-rooted problems still linger.

ElsewhereThe Alienist and Dakota Fanning's hats are back, Black Monday and Grantchester conclude their seasons, Beecham House concludes its first and last season, Valerie Bertinelli tells all, SharkFest begins, Pynk has a carwash, Yellowstone reveals a toxic backstory, BET revisits Pitch, Peter Graves joins the IMF, Eliot Ness goes after bad money lenders, and Michelle McNamara continues her search for the Golden State Killer.
