What's On Tonight (Wednesday): Bounce on over for a Cut

In the Cut (via Giphy)
[*opens door* *in Squiggy voice*] Hello! [*studio audience claps*] Hey, it's our birthday! [*studio audience cheers*] Yep, three years ago today, with the end of The A.V. Club on the horizon, CaliCheeseSucks crafted a pretty plain and simple post as a soft launch for a new What's On Tonight on the Pop Culture Disqus channel. So who is bringing the cake to the Headlines thread? (Because it's late, and you shouldn't have sweets this time of night.) Back to television... tonight's Top Pick goes to the barbershop-family sitcom In the Cut on the Black-targeting over-the-air sub-network Bounce. The show began when barbershop owner Jay Weaver (Dorien Wilson) met Kenny (Ken Lawson), his biological son from a fling 30 years ago. Kenny moves in and gets a job at the barbershop. And Jay's wife (Kellita Smith) runs the salon next door. A comedy of situations!

Elsewhere, HGTV deals with Hot Messes, there's a new First Family, Decades remembers the 1918 flu pandemic, James Brown prepares to appear on Soul Train, Jon Stewart stops by to see an old friend, and the SHIELD team runs across a "familiar face." Sock it to me, here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, June 24!

Nobody Knows I'm Here πŸŽ₯ (Netflix, 3 a.m.): In this Chilean import, Jorge Garcia lives on a remote Chilean sheep farm, hiding a beautiful singing voice from the outside world. A recluse with a glittery flair, he can't stop dwelling on the past, but what will happen once someone finally listens?

In Baptiste, the police were pretty competent, but the CO was a drunk.

Yet, despite its toll, its excess of human devastation, for decades it was an omitted chapter in history. This new documentary, unfurls the society and culture of 1918 to investigate why an event so catastrophic failed to cling to any sort of collective remembrance. Will it be better than PBS' American Experience episode? Probably not. But it might be a good addendum. (You can find it online.)
