She'll be sooooo excited--Look her name's finally above the fold!!! Top O The World Ma!!!! (She's a wannabe journalist right? I honestly don't know, I saw like five minutes randomly of one episode once...I realize now I have no idea what she does or what her goals even are beyond the generic "Makin' it in big bad NYC") Also on tonight is the series finale of a show i liked a great deal at one point but is now completely confusing to me "How To Get Away With Murder"--That should probably be Top Pick here because Series Finale---but i hadn't used Katy Keene yet this season so priorities I guess....Anyways This is What's On for Thursday May 14th, 2020
Streaming:
The Good Fight (CBS ALL ACCESS): Episode 405
Broadcast:
8:00
Young Sheldon (CBS): Recent rerun from March has the school librarian getting injured at a school football game, and because its largely coach George's fault, he invites her to recuperate at the house. (Even tho I saw this, I was still confused as to why she stayed at their house, she has a house!!! Ahhh logic who needs it! Sarah Baker plays the school librarian btw)
Council of Dads (NBC): Robin contemplates romantic life after Scott, Luly, and Evan make a risky investment with their loan money; Anthony prepares for the transition of the Crab Shack and develops a surprising friendship; Larry confronts his past failures. (How many past failures do you think Larry has to confront??? Can't be too many as its the C plotline here so probably doesn't get that much screentime)
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? (ABC): Picking up where she left off last week--Catherine O'Hara tries to continue on the road to the top of the 25,000 dollar pyramid. (What do you mean there's no pyramid on this show??? Oh yeah, well what geometrical shape does this show have then???) Also playing tonight is Dr. Phil. (Really??? I mean OK)
Celebrity Watch Party (FOX): (shrugs) I don't know either!
Katy Keene (The CW): Top Pick of the night is this CW show wrapping up its first season tonight with "Katy is starting to see things a little more clearly and needs Gloria's help to make her plan work leading to unexpected opportunities; Meanwhile Pepper finds a way to make things right with Jorge and Josie." (I suspect it'll all work out ok, i mean its Katy Keene!!!) (Could you imagine if it had some kind of depressing ending like a certain famous 70s movie...."Forget It Katy Keene, Its Chinatown!!!")
8:30
Man With A Plan (CBS): The now cancelled sitcom (whyyyy????) carries on with the rest of its produced season with "Adam's mother in law Alice makes an unexpected visit and reveals some shocking news" (Is the shocking news that they're moving to Netflix?!?!?!?) (What??? It could happen!!!) (Its not gonna happen)
9:00
Mom (CBS): The sitcom reruns its quite bittersweet Christmas set episode from earlier this season that had Bonnie suffering from increasingly intense remorse when Christy opts to share with the group stories of Christmas's past which all sound incredibly bleak and while Christy meant it in a "Look how far we've both come" kinda way, Bonnie feels the crushing guilt of her past self's actions. (Its got a pretty well acted ending where Christy tries to make Bonnie understand that she already forgave her years ago for her years of neglect and selfishness and that the relationship they've cultivated over the past decade is far greater than anything she could've envisioned in the past.) (Awww)
Blindspot (NBC): Jane and the team reach out to Patterson's father (BILL NYE!!!) in the hopes of gaining access to a high level conference in Finland where once there they hope to bring Matthew Weitz over to their side. (The episode is titled "We Didn't Start the Fire"---which I can only hopes means we'll get a sung listing of everything that's ever happened on this show...."Tattooed Lady, Suitcase Home, Amnesia, Foreign Home, Awkward Romance, Foiling Crime, Unraveling Convoluted Plot....") (I'm quite proud of that!!!)
Station 19 (ABC): This Grey's Anatomy spin-off show wraps up its 3rd season (really 3 seasons already???) with "Andy becomes suspicious of the circumstances surrounding her mother's death; the crew works to evacuate a doctor from Pac North Hospital and finds themselves in a life threatening situation (this happens every week!!!): Sullivan undergoes surgery for his chronic leg pain. (See you in Season 4 Seattle First Emergency Responders????)
Mental Samurai (FOX): Rerun!!!!
In The Dark (The CW): Murphy's choices plunge the Guiding Hope crew deeper into Nia's game; as Jess continues to grow suspicious of the closed door meetings between Felix and Murphy; Dean tries to keep Chloe away from Murphy. (Boy that Murphy is prominently featured in 3 different plotlines tonight, its like she's the main character or something!!!)
Restaurant Impossible (Food): Season 17 (!!!!) Premieres tonight with a pastor who owns an eatery called "Lloyd Have Mercy" (I really hope the pastor's name is Lloyd here just so the joke works!)
Ghost Adventures (Travel): "Bloodshed In A Bordello" in Globe, Arizona. (Really that says it all!)
We're Here (HBO): Drag Queens continue to travel to various small towns across America to inspire locals into being who they are! (Its like "To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar" if it was a reality show!)
Gomer Pyle (MeTV): A nightclub owner plots to have Gomer sing at his club every night. (nods)
9:30
Broke (CBS): This also now cancelled sitcom continues its produced episode order with "Javier decides to go with Jackie to visit her father in prison and retroactively ask permission to marry Elizabeth so their marriage isn't cursed; Luis teaches Elizabeth to drive and while picking up Sammy from school learns that Sammy is being bullied." (and tries to run over the bully tying to the two plotlines together perhaps???) (ooh they could tie all three together, if after running over the bully, Elizabeth ends up in jail alongside her father!) (Nice Matthew!) (See i could totally write these!)
Green Acres (MeTV): "My Mother the Countess" Lisa's mom arrives and the town over-prepares because she is fancy and they aim to impress for some reason. (Ohhh 60's TV...Never Change!)
10:00
Tommy (CBS): This might change since CBS just cancelled this show but for right now the schedule has a rerun episode listed that has "A Hollywood agent is attacked by a woman at his own party who claims that he sexually assaulted her years ago, and said agent seeks Tommy's help because he claims he never saw her before in his life" (What is this--an episode of SVU here???)
Law and Order Special Victims Unit (NBC): Speaking of--this show has a rerun from October that has "Rollins clashes with the parents of a teenage runaway" (Ohh its a Rollins episode!)
How To Get Away With Murder (ABC): Actually new tonight--this show wraps up SIX years worth of plotlines with an hour long finale. (Ooh Finale!!!) "Annalise discovers a surprise witness who threatens her case; Connor tries to persuade the others to go along with a new plan (what is this their 5000th plan???); A lie between Frank and Bonnie threatens their new relationship as the killer is finally revealed/unmasked." (Ok but to be fair, Frank and Bonnie have both killed people at this point in the show's run--neither of them are particularly good people so if the killer being unmasked turns out to be one of them, its gonna be a bit of a disappointment)
(Also this show was really, really, really good at one point in time--that first season is very, very, tightly done....I don't know when the show lost its way exactly, some would say the 2nd season, others would say the 4th season, but somewhere along the way it became a hugely jumbled mess of multiple plot strands and endless reveals and reversals--which would actually make this an ideal binge watch, but for me personally someone who watched it on a weekly basis, made it kinda hard to follow this last season where the show is literally asking you to remember everything that ever happened on it and its like--"Yeah this is kind of a tall ask here show") (Sorry for the monologue! I just needed to get that out there!)
Top Chef (Bravo): The chefs head to the mountains outside LA to attend a summer camp where they are challenged to do an outdoor grilling Quickfire for Padma and Top Chef Kentucky winner Kelsey Barnard Clark. (I don't know what a Quickfire is, but it sounds delicious???)
Siren (Freeform): Ryn, Ben, and Maddie must protect Bristol Cove from Tia's army of mermaids; (yes you read that right); Ben's injections produce unexpected results which alarms both him and others; Xander juggles best men duties in Calvin's wedding while also helping Helen. (Again with Helen!!!!) (What's up with that Helen anyways???) (HELEN!!!!)
Opening Night (Food): NEW SERIES!!!!! This one's about the opening night of various restaurants across the country. Tonight's is about an Italian eatery being opened in Boston's North End area--which is apparently the heart of Little Italy, and is facing immense competition from every other Italian restaurant in the ares. (But What's One More??? Why not another one??? Plenty of people to go around!!!!)
Portals To Hell (Travel): Mineral Wells Texas--where a Haunted Hill House is investigated.
10:30
The Misery Index (TBS): Seemingly bypassing Tru TV altogether--this game show that teams up Jamilla Jamil with the crew from "Impractical Jokers" is back for a 2nd season (has it been gone long enough for them to film another batch of episodes??? I guess it must've been!) Tonight we got an episode titled "When We Smash" ("Sometimes When We Smash, The Hours Get Too Crash...and The Longing Gets Too Cash???" "Awww Mannnn")
11:00
Vagrant Queen (Syfy): The show I keep forgetting to list finally makes its way back to WOT listings---its an important Canadian syfy drama (Thanks RockRocky!!!) which tonight has as its plotline "Elida volunteers the team to take a scavenger job while Isaac and Ariac battle hijackers on a train" (The episode is titled "Sunshine Express Yourself") (Also Hijackers On A Train huh? What is this Under Siege 2: Dark Territory here???)
LOOK AT THAT I FOUND A PRETTY DECENT AMOUNT OF TV TO LIST HERE AFTER ALL! THE COMING WEEKS ALL LOOK PRETTY BARREN THO NOW THAT THE MAJORITY OF THINGS ARE WRAPPED UP SOOOO I DUNNO WHAT THIS COLUMN'S GONNA LOOK LIKE WITHOUT THINGS TO LIST BUT TO BE FAIR HOW MANY OF YOU ACTUALLY COME HERE TO READ MY RAMBLINGS ANYWAYS RIGHT????
