What's On Tonight (Friday): Say Hello To "Space Force" and Welcome Back "Ramy"

Via Imgur

Tonight is a pretty busy night for streaming options as Netflix has the new Steve Carell comedy about well Space Force recruits, and emmy nominee (and Golden Globe Winner) Ramy Youssef is back with the second season of his self titled sitcom on Hulu. This is What's On for May 29th 2020

Streaming

Space Force (Netflix): New comedy teaming up Mr. Carell with his "The Office" exec producer Greg Daniels on a new kind of workplace comedy--the recruitment of people for the newly created armed forces division for space. This one has listed in its cast Ben Schwartz, Diana Silvers, Jimmy O Yang, Don Lake, Lisa Kudrow, John Malkovich, Noah Emmerich, Roy Wood Jr, Chris Gethard, Jessica St. Clair, and apparently Fred Willard's gonna be in it too! (That's quite a cast there)

Ramy (Hulu): Meanwhile Hulu has the 2nd season premiere of Ramy Youssef's self titled show for which he won an unexpected Golden Globe for best actor in a comedy series last January. It had some very, very positive reviews when it premiered last year and some even stronger word of mouth from those who had seen it, sooo Ramy won't you??? Ramy.

Central Park (Apple TV): Not to be outdone but Apple premieres a new animated show from the creator of Bob's Burgers  (and Home Movies) and it looks like it'll be pretty similar in its sensibilities to those two shows based on the ads I've seen for it in the past week. Its about a group of unlikely caretakers who all live and work to keep Central Park clean and safe and its got a nice eclectic cast including Josh Gad, Stanley Tucci, Krsiten Bell, Katherine Hahn, Titus Burgess, Daveed Diigs, and Leslie Odom Jr. (hopefully they'll be some other way to see it apart from Apple because otherwise how else am I supposed to see this one???)

Defending Jacob (Apple TV): Also tonight finds this mini-series wrapping up its run with its final episode--so i guess we'll find out if they were able to successfully defend that Jacob or not. (nods)

The Vast of Night (Amazon Prime): And finally tonight we have an indie sci-fi film premiering on Amazon that finds "Two kids in the 1950s New Mexico searching for the source of a mysterious frequency that has descended upon their town" (It was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for its first time screenplay writer if that means anything to anyone here) (Having looked it up just now both the writer and director have no other credits to their name apart from this feature so they're both at the very beginning of their career here!)

Broadcast

8:00

Haircut Night In America (CBS): This new hour long filler special has various celebs getting instructed on how to cut their own hair and attempt to do just that while filming the results. (This is what's getting aired tonight instead of a rerun of MacGyver??? C'mon!!!!)

World of Dance (NBC): Rerun of Tuesday night's season premiere

Shark Tank (ABC): Rerun

Friday Night Smackdown (FOX): HockeyMike--Now You Know What Day Of The Week It Is!!!!!

Master of Illusions (The CW): "Virtual magic, Psychic worms, and Hans Kick" (nods) (I don't know what those things mean either!)

9:00

Magnum PI (CBS): Rerun of that time Bobby Lee gets introduced to the show's cast as Jin a pickpocket who asks Magnum to investigate a text claiming that someone's gonna get murdered when Jin steals someone's cell phone. (A pickpocket with a conscience? Now i've seen everything!)

Dateline (NBC):

20/20 (ABC):

Whose Line? (The CW): Adriane Houghton and at 9:30--Brad Sherwood 3---both episodes are reruns from late last summer

American Masters (PBS): A profile of Heddy Lamarr which was good from what I recall.

Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives (Food): Takeout chefs from across the country talk to Guy over Zoom about a West Virginia Weiner, a new spin on the burger, a Milan Asian barbecue spread, and a righteous way of making a baloney sandwich. (Huh)

10:00

Blue Bloods (CBS): In this rerun Frank and Garrett try to convince the new mayor (Dylan Walsh) to work better with others on the occasion of his 100th day in office (when the gloves come off), Danny and Baez try to track down who is tagging cop cars with anti cop graffiti, and Erin is injured in a car crash.  (CBS! CBS! CBS!)

Literally nothing else is on!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!! DON'T DO ANYTHING I WOULDN'T DO---SO BASICALLY DO EVERYTHING????
